Title: The little voices in your heads
Post by: kira21 ♡♡♡ on September 12, 2014, 01:38:52 PM
Hi folks,

I was just wondering... we typically have a voice that our mind uses to think things through.

Assuming that it was something similar to your own as I believe it is typically, has it changed as your voice has change, either with training or hormone treatment?

To be honest with mine, its hard really to put my finger on how it sounds at all. I know some people have a very clear and definite voice, but mine is more of a hypothetical voice. I would say it is genderless and always has been, in a mid range. I just thought it was an interesting question.

Hmmm,
Do my mental ruminations have a voice and has it changed?  It is more what I talk to myself about that has changed more than the timbre.  I tend to think in both prose and pictures, so the result isn't necessarily verbal, but more a patois of sight and something like sound.  The imagery is  more colorful and less harsh, and the dialogue is gentler and less demanding.  So I guess yes my voice has changed along with everything else it is better aligned with who I am.

My pretransition vocabulary controlled and limited my interactions with the world.  It had to or I would have gone mad.  Now I welcome all who are interested into my psyche, and into my life.  That I am more authentic in how I live has translated into authenticity of thought as well.  I think it is good and as it should be.

Fair Winds,
Julie

The ones in your head are fine, It is when they start coming from the walls or in my case the car that you need to begin to worry. ;)

That voice from the car, it wouldn't be your mother's voice (http://"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Mother_the_Car"), would it?

Why does mine sound like Cookie Monster?

(Note to self- listen to less death metal.)

Other than being less angry and less obsessed with sex and less whiney and more understanding...nope mine hasn't changed at all!

YES! Wow. I hadn't even given it a second thought until you  mentioned it! I sometimes think in a male voice instead of my natural speaking voice now...it depends on the situation. I've barely even begun to transition yet. It's just the change of mindset, I guess.

My inner voice subject matter has changed a lot and the pitch I reference my thoughts is higher. Perhaps I am imagining things but I think the voice originates more forward in my head.

Asche, you're showing your age.  Wasn't that from 1968 or so.   ::)

My inner voice has always been female or more like my higher pitched male voice (which as I've found out sometimes passes as female).

Same with me, yet the thoughts usually turn into voices :(
I guess it's perfectly normal until they tell you to start doing things  :-\
