So I've done two sessions with ideal image and while I love the results boy is it EXPENSIVE!
its there any DIY kits that are less expensive or perhaps i could bleach my upper lip? That is like my only problem area.
Ideal image actually got rid of the other trouble areas for me already c :
Just wanted to know because I'm only 20 and am forced to pay for everything myself.

There is Tria which some have had good experience with. Your skin and hair have to be a certain pigment for it to work properly though.

I'm pretty sure most of the at home lasers are probably just a wast of time and money. I've never tied one but those kind of at home things tend to be scams. See if you can buy a package laser deal like 6-8 sessions up front, they tend to be cheaper then buying individual sessions.

I would stay away from the home devices, if you just do face it should not cost more than $40 per session, 6-10 sessions spread over 9-15 months isn't that bad and results are going to be better.

I've had laser on my face, I think I had 6 sessions in total and there was allot of clearance however once the dark hairs went I was left with a fair number of white hairs that I'd previously not seen or knew about because the dark ones hid them :( I'm still going to need 70 to 80 hours of electro to clear the rest but that's better than 200 which I may well have needed before the intervention of the laser. A few other trans folks I know have experienced a similar thing although slightly less remaining hair for some :)
If they want 5k from you for the face I'd suggest finding a cheaper place as that does seem a bit excessive, If all my hairs had been dark then likely I'd have had a clear face now :)
Hugs
Sorcha :)

Yeah, it's expensive, but it's mostly because it's all in one go. I ended up paying about $5500 for my face and neck. However considering electrolysis treatments, spread out over years and many hours... the total cost won't be that different, but the time invested is FAR less.
Now, I will still have to have electrolysis for the white/blonde hairs that the laser can not get - but these are located solely on my chin and upper lip, and will likely only require a handful of electrolysis hours to clear. I actually need to start looking into this, because my final face laser session is tomorrow evening.
Of course, paying off the credit accounts I opened to get this done have added quite a few bad marks on my credit report during harder times. :/

Facial hair removal is something I started before HRT with Laser many years ago, and like Sorcha the dark hairs that survived after 15 treatments turned white. I started electrolysis when I started HRT and am 95% done after 120 hours of electrolysis. You have to accept that it will be a long process but the results are just great. You are young enough and if your hairs are all dark then your costs will be significantly less but DON'T bother with the home kits - I've wasted so much $ on them.

I only invested 400 USD into this and bought Tria 4x Home laser kit... My face is very much clear except for a stray hair here and there and those white/grey buggers which keep popping out. Given the scarcity, I am treating my face quite brutal recently (EMLA cream + several detailed passes on upper lip and chin till it's all brighish red) - I am giving myself a couple of weeks and then taking a couple hours of electro.
As I said, it took 400 USD, one year and ~3-4 months.

Very similar experience - although I am up to 150 hrs of electro. Now achieving a full clearance at each treatment but the white hairs and the longer vellus hairs just seem to be never ending. My electrologist thinks another 6 treatments should pretty much finish the face, but I dont want to get my hopes up too prematurely.
Safe travels

I bought a barely used 3rd generation Tria via eBay (virtually the same as the 4x, but without the lasers fired counter). It helped me clear the hairs on my upper lip and chin areas. Your mileage will vary and it does depend heavily on skin type and hair colour.

my skin is beige and my hair is dark and coarse on my face.
in fact i have dark and coarse hair all over my body.
im thinking the tria 4x would be a good investment vellus hairs or clear white hairs I have very few of and one pass with a razer and its smoother than anything c :
Ideal image just left a bad taste in my mouth I literally set up 3 different payments with these people and they never took any money like we agreed on.
So I just cancelled it entirely I think a good route would be to go with the tria 4x then electro if needed.
With HRT too a lot of my hairs cease to grow anyways
What do you ladies think?

As I've said, some here have had good experiences with it but YMMV. I probably can't use it because of my dark skin tone.

HRT doesn't stop facial hair growth but it may slow it a little.

There is a newer model - Tria Hair Removal Precision - which is 50% cheaper than 4x, has exactly the same power but a bit less "bells and whistles". It is designed specifically for facial hair removal and is also less bulky.

I have a consultation with Ideal Image for full body including face. I'm cringing and I haven't even gotten the price quote yet. There aren't many laser places in my city and none that offer many packages. I've seen so many deals in other states it makes me wanna cry. Even on Groupon I've seen 6 full body sessions for $900!!!! If you live in Miami, NYC, Texas, Or California you're in luck. I hate having to deal with this issue.

I was particularly hairy in some parts of my body (especially my back) but after years of hormones I'm not :) I don't even have to remove hair on my legs because it's quit growing so maybe hold off on full body hair removal by laser for a year or 2 yet and you may find you won't need it ;D Obviously facial hair will still grow and it's not likely hormones will do anything but make the hairs finer and softer in this area but I don't grow much hair if any on chest arms legs and back anymore
Hugs
Sorcha

Janae, is that you in your avatar? You look gorgeous! I am interested in your experience because I have a similar skin tone. $900 doesn't seem all that bad to me if I can just do it and get over with it.
