Title: Am I the only one that hates makeup?
Post by: Jaz650 on September 21, 2014, 10:23:53 PM
I hate makeup! First off I don't need it to pass, maybe to look prettier, but not to pass. Secondly, I hate having to take it off at the end of the day, or to work out. It's so freaking time consuming. I went on a date a couple days ago without makeup, and the guy thought I was extremely cute, he's still texting me. I believe it is more important on working on having naturally flawless skin, this way I'll look ten times greater after FFS! BUT I DON'T NEED MAKEUP! it's to oily, and just feels terrible on your skin. Does anyone else hate makeup?

You realize this is the ftm side of the site, right?  I think you'll find a lot of us here dislike makeup.

I hate makeup too!

I like playing dress-up a little by myself but I don't like to wear it in public, and certainly don't want it to feel like a requirement, even if I'm presenting femme.

Granted, I think you will have a more lively discussion in a MTF section of the forum :)

It has it's uses and its fun to play with. Can't say I hate it but I do not miss the days of putting on tons of liquid foundation just to cover my shadow. That I hated to do but it was a must back then. Now the only time I wear it is when I go out to a club or an event. I love eyeliner but my eyelashes are so long that it smudges constantly so I don't wear it all the time anymore either.

Drug store makeup is always gonna feel worst on the skin vs good quality makeup

When I was growing up as a biological female, oh man, I hated make-up with a passion. I always had this fear it was going to rub off if I accidentally rubbed one of my eyes. I was forced to wear make-up for my primary school graduation, blurgh. So I hated it with a passion. I felt that if I took an interest in it or wore it, that it would re-enforce that I am female and I do not identify as female at all. Feminine, sure. Female, no way!

Funnily enough, since identifying as male, being on Testosterone for a few years and then identifying as non-binary, I have become increasingly comfortable with expressing femininity. I have a huge kit of make-up (my avatar is an example of me being all femme'd up!) and... well, I love makeup now... but I wouldn't wear it everyday, just the days when Jay (female self) wants to spread her wings and fly~! ;D

Note to self: Too much mascara makes clumps fall into your eyes and makes one eye start flooding with tears during selfie explosion. Ow. Ow. Ow. Oww! :o

Growing up my mother wore (and she still does) very heavy makeup. Even if she stays home during the day she is wearing it and never takes it off. She would sleep in it. When she woke up, she would wash off the old and apply new makeup. It was so heavy and it had an odor that was overwhelmingly strong. Only twice (when she was in the hospital) have I ever seen her without it and she really didn't need it. (Now may be a different story with age.) Anyway, I allays like a little bit of makeup to where is look natural and light. When I came out to my mother that I was transgender, she was very accepting, but asked, "I thought you didn't like make up! and your wife doesn't wear make up." Once I explained what I liked, she understood better.

I love the fact that I easily pass without makeup, so I don't have to wear it every day. However, I do enjoy wearing some light foundation and a little natural looking color. Also the days after electrolysis, makeup certainly helps with confidence even though I pass the day of electrolysis (before and after.) I like bareescentuals due to it's natural look and it feels natural to wear to me.

i love makeup, but not for everyday use.
most guys prefer their girls to wear less makeup.

and lots and lots of cis girls hate makeup with a passion.
i even know girls who refuse to shave, because it's unnatural (you can't argue against this one, humans aren't born with razors).

mineral makeup feels best on the skin imo.
enhancing natural beauty rather than fabricating a look is kind of difficult with makeup, but not impossible.
i don't feel like enhancing anything though, and only wear makeup when i want to look different, more made up, for some occasion or other.

I love wearing it but don't wear it all the time. I generally only do my eyes as well.

I wear makeup only to cover my beard shadow. If the unlikely eventuality occurs that my two-hour-a-week electrolysis appointments somehow do manage to get rid of all my whiskers, I will gladly retire my makeup brushes. I would never dream of trying to make up my eyes - I'm a total klutz, especially in the morning, and that's not how I want to go blind.

A lot of people pressure me to use makeup - tell me how pretty I'd be. To me, the cost of beauty obtained by makeup would be too high.

I had eye makeup on yesterday and the day before. I don't like scrubbing it off! Makes my eyes feel so tired and I would prefer not having to learn to watch out that I don't mess it up. I also dislike foundation because it doesn't really look too natural to me. So when I transition I'm thinking it's going to be a luxury for parties and official events. Assuming that I'll pass au naturel.

Before HRT and when I was still highly closeted even to myself I would of course fantasize being able to do le perfect makeup. Things change. Still need a lot of practice though.

I don't like it. In fact I'm dreading having to use it to cover the shadow until I can get it all removed. I have naturally long and thick eyelashes so I don't need anything there as well.

Lipstick and lip gloss? No problem. Love those.

Nail polish? I love it and I've been wearing clear nail polish for a while now. (it also helps keep nails from splitting. I have a serious problem with that.)

I always feel guilty that I don't wear anything but lipstick. Like I'm not being woman enough or something. I never liked girls who wore too much makeup and I guess I still don't.

God I love makeup. I wear it nearly every day, only skipping if I have electrolysis. I'm kinda girly though.

If I didn't have a degree of color blindness I'd ditch my current career and would give makeup artistry a serious go.

So nope, sorry lol though I can understand why you gals don't. It can take considerable time to apply

For me it really depends on my mood.
If I'm just having lunch, seeing a friend or going about my day to day stuff I may wear some.
If I'm working, I'll always at least wear BB cream, if I'm meeting with suppliers or have meetings, I'll do a full face of work make up (which I hate).
Some days I won't touch the stuff, in summer I won't even look at most of it, but if I'm getting ready for a big night I could spend hours just doing my make up and end up having a heap of fun with it.

Yes this......one of the many reasons I quit MtF and remain a transdrogynously and non- binarily happy person.

I've never liked how makeup looks on others, and never intend to use it myself, although for different reasons. I hate having any sort of product on my skin; I guess it is too sensitive. (Same goes for hair as it eventually gets on my scalp)

I think I'll be able to pass without makeup though so I'm lucky that I don't need something I refuse to wear.
