Title: Cost of orchi
Post by: Stephe on September 24, 2014, 07:05:12 PM
I am scheduled for this first of next month but after seeing the doc for consultation, they told me it was going to be $3000? Does that sound right? They made it sound like a fairly simply procedure done in their office with a local, that price seems crazy unless I am missing something. I want to get this done but if this is price gouging, which isn't unheard of from people who "service" the trans community, I might look for someone else to do this. If this is the going rate, then I won't bother looking around for another doc.

I paid a hell of a lot more than that a couple of months ago, but I was put under and had some minor work done on mah face at the same time.  Not to mention I paid the Beverly Hills SRS surgeon's price.  The good news is that he cut them WAY up in the canals and left one small scar in the middle that won't affect SRS at a later date.

I woke up feeling like I got kicked square in the nuts, and the first couple of days really sucked, but a week later I was able to go out and catch a rock concert with no problems.  I didn't even come close to finishing my pain meds.

A day after the surgery, I felt this incredible sense of lightness and well-being which got even better over the next few days.  The very last of the testorturone was finally getting out of my system, and it felt wonderful.  My orchi was worth every last penny.

I'll be here all week.  Tip your waitstaff and bartenders.

Oh well, I'm sure to the FTMs it's the equivalent of *wait for it...* depresstrogen.

Greetings from Minneapolis/St Paul....

Mine, if I would have gone out of pocket, was priced at $2000.00.

I got insurance to pay for it.  I needed letters from two psychologists, one from my primary doctor, one from my endocrinologist and one from the surgeon.  The justification was that after surgery I would take significantly less estrogen dosages and would therefore have reduced risk of blood clots and associated risk factors.  Cost was $12.00 plus time spent getting the letters together.

Hope this helps.  If you want to come here for it, they did a good job.  Surgery was in a hospital, under full anesthesia, with follow-up.  I have extra rooms if you need a place to stay........

Hugs,

Jen

Just as long as the surgeon leaves enough material so that if you decide to have SRS in the future. If it will go for it. Which would be the true cost of the surgery.

I paid $1100 and my insurance paid the rest.
