Title: Why only every two weeks for E injections?
Post by: Monica Jean on September 30, 2014, 08:30:24 AM
CAUTION AHEAD: Newbie question ahead:

Curious as to why hormone injections are given every two weeks.  Why not every week?  I'm on a starter, low-dose.  Does the E really last for two weeks in the bloodstream?  Seems to me it would be purged out of the body quicker than a two week interval.

END OF CAUTION/Newbie question. :)

I donno an Im on weekly injections ??? I will be taking mine every five days, I seem to crash and feel bad after 5 days regardless of dosage... The shot only lasts 5 days for me... I do seem to have a very high E metabolism too though... Ive always needed a lot more E regardless of the route of administration than I read about people taking to test in the "normal female range"....

I just told my doc he can prescribe the same monthly dose and either reduce it by half for weekly shots or reduce a bit more for 5 day shots... At the end of the month when its time to refill the script its the same amount after all... As far as Im concerned there is NO good reason for a girl like me to suffer from wild hormonal swings.... Well my doc after some good natured ribbing about womanhood and the cycle agrees and he cant find a reason not to take E shots that way if necessary ;D 8)

I cant imagine going two weeks between shots :'(

Depends on the E.

Each has there own absorption rates.

Some a week, others longer.

Eva, very interesting about your 5 day comment.  As I look in my journal, it's 5 days after the injection when I started feeling blue/down/depressed again.  I will ask the doc for clarification and possible change in schedule on my next visit to him.

Well we are supposedly testing E and T all that today so we will see where its at after 5 days...

BUT Ive heard that before and Ive yet to be tested for anything by this doc... Who knows what he will say if my E level is "too high" ;)

I have an appointment with him in two weeks and I think I will ask to put off the test today until then... I have to pay out of pocket for testing, my insurance just takes it from my deductible...

I have mine injected every 5 days. I'm on estradiol valerate (EV). No complaints.  ;D
