I know quite a few people here and elsewhere have tried on their close family's underwear and bras, I'm just curious how many...and kind of why, even though I'm one. It's drilled into most everyone's head that wearing other people's under items is unsanitary, so why do we just ignore that?

I never wore anyone's clothes, instead I just bought my own. Why? Not because of it being unsanitary, but because I wanted the clothes to be mine forever.  ;D I started buying boys undies when I was 16 and never looked back.  ;D

When I was 11 I tried on my mom and (eventually) my sister's clothes. No idea why or what compelled me. It just felt right. Probably the first big sign of my eventual transition.

I'm calling bull->-bleeped-<- on that, if they have been through the laundry there isn't a problem.

Go ahead and enjoy this harmless release for your needs hun, don't let social conditioning get in the way.

I started wearing my big sisters and my mum's underwear as far back as I can remember, always in secret (thank you again social conditioning for making a stigma out of something harmless) and as often as I could manage it!

To be honest it was so long ago I can't remember if I did or not. I'm going with not.

However...my mother's closet was small but she had a lot of clothes. I on the other hand had a large closet with nowhere near as many clothes so she kept some of her less favourite and infrequently worn dresses at the other end of my closet. When I was in my early teens and they still fit me I remember trying those on...made me feel great!

guilty! Mom, Sis, cousins, friends, girlfriends... only grannie's were off limit LOL

In secret of course, that is until I got caught (over and over again)... more LOL

same here, did that on and off as a kid and into my teenage years when I was finally able to get my own clothes.

Well there were a pair of black underwear in my drawer that seemed to be just washed and my think they were my brother's because it has a front pouch.  I wore them, but I still had panties on.  I just felt so awkward letting my bare labia majora touch that fabric.  I just wanted to put my packet in it so I can see it poke out through the hole.  I wish I could afford getting male underwear, but I'm on a tight budget between Ebay purchases and top surgery, lol so that's just not on my radar right now.

This for me too.   I just had to do it.  Until recently I never knew why.

I raided my sisters clothes frequently. I don't recall if this started before I was 10 or not. My mom clothes were never a good fit since she was over weight.

In the past, when it was possible for me to occasionally be home alone, I tried on my wife's clothes (both undies, dresses, skirts, blouses, swim suits, etc. - all but shoes) but was never able to go out dressed in them. It felt great and I wish that it would be possible to go out in public dressed like that with her.

Since we have retired and don't have any separate activities which allow me to be home alone that has not been possible for a long time. We, however, frequently wear like casual clothes ("unisex" jeans, sweats, t-shirts, jackets, etc.) but that is not the same as wearing female styled clothing.

I have managed to gain a few minor private, but not public, quasi-female unisex items.
1. Jockey "for her" elancee cotton panties (mostly white - some colors and patterns) which she also wears.
2. Matching robes (unisex or plain feminine).
3. Matching unisex night shirts (night gowns) - and some plain feminine night gowns.

I would like to find a way to cross the barrier to more feminine with her.

what's  a kid to do when too young to shop , but it could be the reason my sister has never liked me.

Lucky you!  Makes me think: one of my dad's friends is an architect.  Maybe I should get onto him and tell him to put small closets in the master bedroom.  Not sure what I'll tell him when he asks why, though.

At any rate, I have to plead guilty to this little failing as well.  Interesting to see that some of the guys are 'fessing up, too.  And why not?  A guy deserves his fun.

Back when I was really little, my older brother put me in a dress one afternoon. We were at a friends place and they had a daughter who was about my size. I spent the whole avo in that dress. It was the best day of my life back then. My bio dad was not so happy. Up untill I began transitioning I would put on female clothes at every chance I got.l but that was mostly when people didn't know I was doing it.

I've done it more times than I'd like to admit. But I have my own undies now so I don't wear hers (besides, hers doesn't fit me all that well).

Sure it isn't sanitary. But uhhh if you're married to the person, (let's see how I can put this nice and PG) aren't there times when your private parts touch so what's the difference?

Clothes other than underwear I do not see the problem as long as you keep them clean and don't ruin them.

OK. Sorry Alice, you can call BS but I won't. I don't want anyone sitting on my pillow. I in no way would even think about wearing someone else's undies. Through the washer or whatever else. Clothes I will share and share alike. Skirts, shorts, dresses, pants and even bras, but not panties. People fart and I hate farts even from myself and end up holding it in and just letting go away. :embarrassed: No BS.  Females have periods and bleed through. Some even drip-dry. I hate freakin' underwear. Even my boyfriend's boxers I put in the wash with a thumb and index finger, pinching them by the waste band. When they are clean then I will fold them but still kind of apprehensive. As for skid marks if he has them, he can throw them in the trash and buy some new ones. I will even buy him new ones for that matter. He even thinks this is cute, go figure? Can you say OCD? But no, the only panties I ever wore were mine and new and washed before wearing. I bought a bikini at the beginning of summer and washed it before I tried it on. Luckily if fit or I would have taken it back and exchanged it.

I only did that once. It was the only time I wore my cousin's clothes. But I wore my mom's clothes various times for a couple of years. But I never wore her underwear.

p.s. As for skidmarks, personally I would burn any undies with a skid in them! :) Get some moist toilet paper and train your boyfriend to wipe properly!

No this one is good about cleanliness. I think both of us are a little OCD. ;)

When around 10, I would wear my cousins clothes(she was 3 years younger than me) Both inner and outer wear. I loved to wear my aunt's long line bras, playtex girdles and makeup. One can do it several times, but after doing it a lot more one should buy ones own clothes.

I was also caught by my cousin.

Wanted to?  Yes.
Did I? No.

Why?  I was afraid of the possibility that I was transgender, and I didn't want to ever go there.  That was one can of worms I never wanted to open until I absolutely had to.

I take everything back that I said earlier. I had to wear a pair of my cousins panties when I was five or six because our washer went out and I had no more clean underwear. Thinking back about that I shudder. Not the thought of the panties but the thought they weren't mine. :P But that is way before I lost it and went crazy though. ;)

I can relate since I went to school one day in 11th grade wearing my brother's underwear tanktop and a collared shirt. With no bra. I didn't really understand why I did this or felt comfortable being a man on MySpace and MapleStory until the last few months.

I hope my brother never reads this, but I've tried on a lot of his clothes. I would wear his shirts and he would say, 'that's mine,' and I would say that I didn't know, that I just found it in my room, etc... Eventually I cut the crap and just wore a couple of his shorts and things that fit me and would be like 'oops'. A couple time I would wear his boxers over my own underwear to try them on and see myself with that look that guys (and gals) get when you can see the elastic band riding above the top of the pants. x___x I just liked looking at myself like that. I also needed to figure out what my size would be so I could buy my own and was too scared to ask.

I can only ever think of wearing/stealing ties from both my father or lost property at school.  I might have put one of his suit jacket's one once or twice, or maybe I just thought about it as it would drown me anyway.  I don't have any siblings.

Yep.  Did this.  Only child so I only had access to my mother's... she and I never have been particularly the same size.  Due to that, I didn't really do it much but it did happen.

I totally snuck some of her outerwear and normal clothes from when she was younger out of her closet though.  In fact it almost became a daily ritual to raid her closet while she was in the shower for a while...

I knew it was creepy then, and I think it's even creepier now.  But I had no real outlet for being me other than that, at the time.  No time away from the house.

if i ever tried on under clothes... it must have been before i can remember. maybe my dad's? who knows when i can't remember that far back. haven't lived with him properly since i was 5-6. i have gotten some items from a friend though. used, but also gone through boiling hot laundry water. not a problem if the temperature is high enough. but i still wouldn't want to use my mother or sister's stuff.

i've used my brothers' shirts and jeans. never gave them any right to complain.
of course this means i also couldn't complain when my littlest brother stole my favorite shirt either...

I was 13 years old when I first tried on my older sisters panties and then after that I tried on everything in her closet because I was home alone and nobody was around, I tried on her dresses, skirts and everything and I loved it and realized right then that I was a girl trapped in a boys body. I never thought about them being dirty or anything like that, I was just a kid and I was caught up in the moment of enjoying my feminine side.

I got a couple pairs of hand-me-down pants from my older brother, as well. I loved those pants so much T.T

No never did it.

I also never "dressed", nor cross-dressed. One of the few, I guess. I still don't understand the deal about clothes. They're just clothes to me. And still are. I did nick some makeup though....  ^-^

Never once tried on any of my mothers clothes and I'm an only child.
When I came out mum got me a heap of clothes and such.
I started to live part time at home while mum was in the process of taking me out of school (an all boys school) and changing her job so we could move closer to family

Oh yes, I did it numerous times growing up.  My sisters actually dressed me up in my mother's underwear and bra when I was probably 9 or 10.  It felt wonderful.  My sisters said I looked beautiful :)  I also remember dressing in my mother's closet one day and she came into the bedroom and I had to hide until she was gone.  That got the heart pounding. 

I had an extreme christian mother, so I never tried any girly clothes on In her house. One day mum found some girls underwear that I had taken off and hidden  to have a bath, she burst in on me screaming like a banshee. Instead, when I was kicked out of the house or walking home often, I would go to my fave' hiding spot where my stach of girls clothes where and wear those for the day. I lived by the beach so my one piece bathers and swim shorts where worn often. Ahh good times. She never looked for me so it was all good.

As a kid I would go into the bathroom and try on whatever my mother had laying out and put her makeup on. I even had an ex girlfriend's underwear at one point. I'm sure that was thrown out when people moved out of that house while I was in another state. The closest thing I could get without any funny looks was men's bikini underwear (Equipo - http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/web/200874843936_1_0_1/1000x1000.jpg (http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/web/200874843936_1_0_1/1000x1000.jpg)). They make them with such a large...space...in front. That's rather kind of them to assume, but it doesn't do me any good!

I've worn my mum's bras and panties, though my frame is a bit larger than her's so it has been a hit tight sometimes. I used socks to stuff the bras though I think the cup size is a bit small for a woman of my size so when I transition I hope I win the HRT lottery or have breast augmentation so that they don't look small on me.

Yep. That's kind of where I started. We had a laundry bin in the bathroom which gave me time to try things on. I was still super paranoid and didn't do it often. And I kind of "collected" a stash when I felt it had been abandond and no one would miss it (or notice). Things were safelyish hidden in rolls of clean socks stuffed in the back of my drawers.  I was so happy when I finally didnt have to hide things and got to organize them in my closet. ^_^

You know, I've noticed a lot more mtfs admit to the clothes thieving than ftms. I wonder why that is.

I don't. If anything the skimpier the better. To me less is better and way more comfortable. But oh the men. Our biggest fans.

That's actually a very good question. The best answer I've got is that it's just far more taboo for boys to dress up in women's clothing, so admitting to it is sort of like releasing a burden. A girl can get away with wearing men's clothing, so admitting to it may not seem like much of a relief. Thanks, society.

I tried my wife's regular and sexy underwear (everything) and outerwear in the past. I liked them and they looked and felt great. However, that hasn't been possible for a long time  as we now go everywhere together and I am never home alone anymore.
