Susan's Place Transgender Resources

Well last night was fun.  For those of you that don't know, I'm Sarah, MTF and I work on a drillship in the gulf of mexico.  Well there are two areas of the ship with bathrooms.  One set is at the front where all the rooms and stuff is.  And the other bathroom is on the very back of the boat.  But see the boat is 1/4th a mile long.  So I don't want to make that walk jsut cause I had coffee.  The back bathroom is unisex, two stalls in a room.  The policy is if your female you knock and make sure its empty then grab a magnetic sign off the wall and put it over the door handle.  the sign says

Stop!
Female Inside

Simple but hey it works.  Only the other two girls got pulls to other boats.  So its just me.  Anyways it was early in my shift, 3am and I went to use the bathroom.  Someone had changed the sign so it said,

Stop
"Female" Inside

Needless to say I was pissed.  The up shot is that the higher ups backed me.  They are looking for the person and if the find him or anyone else, that person will be fired on the sopt.  And they are adding a lock on the inside of the bathroom door.  So I can jsut go in and lock it.  No sign to get graffiti.

Why do people have to be so horrible?

I wish I knew the answer to that, but I think many times they are just trying to get attention and see what response they get either. No matter what the cause they need to grow up and get a life that doesn't include doing things like that. I hope catch whoever it was.

Sorry to here about the problems you are having. I think its idiots like that find your life more interesting than there's and it makes them focus on you. They are simpletons that are easy amused at stupid sh@t like that. Best of luck to you and a great big hug from me to you!!

I'm sure they thought they were sooooooo funny, that it was "just a joke"...they'll be laughing out their @$$ if they get caught. Some people are just jerks and I hope he gets taught a lesson. I work in a mostly female environment, I can't imagine what it would be like on a boat with a whole bunch of men.

Where I work there is a lot of "funny" peoples like that but well... They learned that the little gentle me may become a little bit psycho and do worst to them so it haven't last long before they stopped.

Surprisingly now that assume myself and proved myself to everyone they started to accept me more and more. I've even learn by a good friend that some of the mens that were "joking" on me are now kind of attracted by me. Pretty funny.

I hope you'll be able to live without this kind of bad reminders.

I can just imagine how bad it can be in your profession. All I can offer is hugs and I hope they catch the "person" who did it.

Oh I'm sure they thought it was funny, right up tell the 6am meeting when their section supervisor pulled them aside and let told them that if the higher ups caught them, they would be fired on the spot.  The people in charge didn't really try to figure out who it was.  They where going more for a NEVER AGAIN bend.  Basically if it happens again, someone is definitely getting fired.  So make sure your buddies fly strait or they might get you fired.  This is like the only time is safer to be the victim. 

I'm glad the companies are in your corner on handling this.

We both know that the mouth breather contingent is well represented in the the oil patch. :-\

I do not understand the big event?? Did some just change female to "female" on a little sign? If that's all that happened it seems mostly harmless? Anyway it seems your mgt. people are serious so I guess you will not have any more trouble. Be careful way out there on some big boat with maybe some mean type men.

Ann, it's like calling a black person a black "Person"  vs. a white person.  It's wildly insulting.  And even if you think it's mild.   Its still discrimination based on my gender. and only my gender and WILDY illegal

How would they like it if the sign said, "only REAL men may enter?"
Because obv some of them wouldn't be able to go in.
(By real men I mean a real man wouldn't do the thing that he did, a juvenile teen boy might. This guy was lesser than other men)

Whoever did that was more immature than a child...it was quite offensive what he did and it's a shame he wasn't caught and fired.

No, no,  I was thinking of giving them the opportunity to learn what happens when some one pours water in their gas tank.  Maybe salt water.  Ya I think I'd add salt.  they can't prove ->-bleeped-<-.

It's tough sometimes, but always take the high ground.  Right now you are winning.  Remember that!

Yes, the higher ground, standing on their unconscious body, I'd say about 12 inches higher.  Sorry love but I'm kind of an angry person and I just can't take thing lying down.  We (LGBT) have to put up with to much evil.  I'm gonna make the bad ones know that we aren't a helpless victim to take advantage of.  If they wanna come after us I'm gonna make them pay cash for every inch.

I can say it is nothing to worry about and to not take it all that heavy. But if that happened to me I would probably feel hurt. Good thing tho, is that you work at a place where the higher ups support you and take action, that is awesome! I wouldn't take revenge of some sort though. I remember seeing a movie (gosh I wish I was better with names so I could name it) about racism in the USA. How this has changed by a smaller group of black and eventually white people, doing what everyone else did and coping with all the bull->-bleeped-<- and negativity till it slowly but surely turned into a more accepting thing.

It is how I feel it is the same with gender and sexuality. Don't want to start an aggressive war constantly poking each other while we are still in the minority. It is unfair.. but it gets better, and you got your company behind you which is really cool.
