I just got a hysto like two weeks ago and I'm healing okay, but one of my scars is concerning me. it's on my pubis and is not super visible, but i can feel that it's healing much like some of my more annoying older scars where they keloided. I can feel the scar tissue underneath if I am putting on clothes etc. It doesn't hurt but it's making me dysphoric because I'm afraid about how bottom surgery will heal if I get scarring like that. I really don't want to put myself in a bind here and I do see my surgeon in another two weeks, but if I can start a regimen now I'd like to try it.
Are there any black, latino, or asian ftm men who have used bio oil (or anyone else) to reduce scar tissue? I've seen results on native and white people and it looks great, but I've never seen anyone who is darker complected do a comparision. I can reduce the scar appearance easily, but the tissue is the problem.
I'd like anyone's opinion honestly because I'm a little panicky about it.

Did you get an abdominal hysto? How big was your incision?
My surgery professor just talked about the keloid thing in class, she said she would usually ask her patients if they are keloid former and if they are, she would consult a immunologist before the surgery. I guess even though you are already post op, you may still ask an expert for help.
I remember my scars looked their worse at 2 wks-1 months, and started to fade after 6 months.

From my understanding, academic research only indicates silicone for any type of scarring, including keloid. Subsequently, Bio Oil is not helpful. Additionally, it is unhealthy. http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/product/160511/Bio-Oil_Scar_Treatment/
I have severe hypertrophic scarring from top surgery one year ago, and I am planning to get cortisone shots to deflate them. Personally, if I had keloid scarring, I wouldn't mess with it myself and would go to a dermatologist to let them deal with it. Keloid scarring is some serious stuff and you need a professional for that. I did a significant amount of research on the topic, as I was unsure if I had hypertrophic scarring, or keloid.
I'm sorry you have to deal with keloids. My understanding is that they can be tough to deal with.

i got lapro so they aren't big honestly, it's more tactile than visual. I think I might have some fading in the next month. It just really bothers me.

Thank you so much for the info. I might be able to get a script for silicone strips to help me out when I go to my doctor. I don't mess with it, I just feel it rubbing against clothes and stuff. It looks to be healing up visually okay. I'm going to the dermatologist soon so I can deal with this.
