Title: More Gender Options?

I'd be surprised if this topic hadn't been raised before, but would it be possible to make a fill-in-the-blank option for gender on the profiles? Or else just add a "nonbinary" option to the dropdown list, I guess. It just strikes me as odd that the only options are Male, Female, Intersex, Androgyne, Queer, and Questioing. Most sites (even ones that aren't explicitly gender-focused) at least have a "Genderqueer" option. Personally, I'm not any of the aforementioned - I'm nonbinary and trigender - so my only options are to 1, leave the gender space blank, or 2, misgender myself.

Androgyne is often considered non-binary. I didn't know there was a difference between queer and genderqueer. What is the difference?

I like the Facebook model, lots of options. You can always use your personal text, custom title, or signature area to state your gender preference. Look at mine, I'm a Cupcake!

Androgyne can be a nonbinary gender, but they aren't synonyms.
Queer is an umbrella term for all LGBTI folks, Genderqueer is (from what I've heard from gq folks) a specific nonbinary gender identity.

I think because the "queer" option in under the "gender" field, it's meant to be genderqueer.
I support the expansion of the gender options, though. Perhaps we could ask the non-binary members which options should be included?

I will disagree with ever being even remotely considered queer.

That is strictly a generational thing, though. Some day they'll be laughing at you and I in the nursing home for remembering those times.

Well, I am of the same generation and fully remember those times. So I make it a point to define me as Androgyne...

I say again: fill-in-the-blank field? Otherwise the list will likely become very, very long.

I agree completely, thus my suggestion. Queer is really not good enough as a coverall.

Fill-in-the-blank works, I guess, but I wanna keep my cute little pink "F" icon. :P
