Title: Happy at work!

I recently got a job at a deli/bakery in a local supermarket. It's nothing fancy but my coworkers are awesome! I've felt comfortable telling them my situation and they've been totally supportive! It's really a blessing to have found this opportunity as I live in a small town with many closed minded people. Another positive occurrence has been that I've been addressed as female by most of our customers.. this is a little surprising to me because I am not really trying to pass at all... and I'm sure I don't to most. I have a beard shadow and no real breasts to speak of, minus slight "breasts" from being on the chubby side. Anyway, just wanted to share! I am finally able to make a bit of money to start my transition medically! Yay!!

Having grown up in a small town, and seeing the prejudice that can occur, I am happy to see that things appear to be working out well for you in your new job.
As for the passing, people will see what they want to see, and if you offer no alternative to being female, then people will look at you and address you as female.

Good for you! It must be wonderful to be living authentically and working towards your goal at the same time.

Let's not automatically put down small towns. I live in one myself and people have been great to me. When you're trans, you can never predict anything. People will surprise you.

Totally agree. The town where I went to court to get my court order for my name change done was a small town. I ended up having to make second trip because the check for the auditor needed one more line filled out. Everyone I dealt with in that town was very nice and kind.

So far I've come out to 3 people in my slow-ramp to coming out officially to everyone. All 3 people (so far) in this small town have been nothing but amazingly helpful and supportive.

Thanks so much everyone!! Yes it's nice to be at least comfortable in the little area of the market I'm in! I'm considering going to work with more deliberate attempts at a feminine attire. Oh, and I'm pleasantly surprised! I don't think is feel brave enough to go all about town en femme but so far I haven't ran into any major issues! If only I had docs and therapists round here.. Lol! Thank you all again for your wonderful words of encouragement and congratulations! ❤️
