Title: My First Therapist Visit
Post by: Jessika on October 20, 2014, 09:15:16 AM
Hi all,
I kinda feel overwhelmed and emotional right now. I just got off the phone with my Therapist's Assistant and scheduled my first appointment tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks Jessica!
Not sure how I will present. I really want to go there in my Male Mode, to show her the outer shell that has been masking my inner feelings.

Would that be wrong?

Jessika

Go in the method that you feel best in. They will be very kind and understanding. I remember my first time I was so nervous but I'm about go to my second visit and it brings me joy just thinking about it. The first visit is your first step to a better and happier you

You should present how you are comfortable. My first few months of therapy I presented male. I wasn't comfortable being myself in public at the time. It's about being comfortable I think it's easier to talk if you are. But either way congrats on the big step.

I know it is scary right now,but dress however you are most comfortable. The first visit is always the  most stressful.Think of it as the beging of the life that you want live! I wish you all the best. :)

Congrats!
I went last week after lots and lots of urging and I wanted to just sit there and keep talking, it was great. As for me, I haven't done anything medically, so I've just been binding/packing, but still don't pass. I went to my first appointment without either, so the doctor could see what I'm dealing with as a starting point. I don't think it matters though. I think they're there really to help you figure out who you really are and to help you make informed decisions about how to handle your transition...

Hiya everyone,
Well, I just got back from my first therapy session and I must say it is such a relief. I went there all nervous but left pretty calm.
My Therapist  mostly did a background session with me. ect ect. My inner secrets were spilled and it felt great.
She even addressed me as Jessika even thou I went in Male mode.

I still had my toenails painted from when I went shopping Friday, she noticed and told me they looked nice. :)

At the end of the session she asked me to do one thing:
1. Write down what my life would be like if I were a Male in 5 years still. My outlook, expectations ect.
2. Write down what my life would be like if I were a Female in 5 years still. My outlook, expectations ect.

I have no idea where to start.

My 2nd appointment is in a week with her. She made no diagnosis yet (Which I agree on the first session) and I look forward to seeing her.

Any insight from you Guys and Gals?

*hugs*

Jess

Mine did this as well. It shows someone who understands and really wants to help.

1. Write down what my life would be like if I were a Male in 5 years still. My outlook, expectations ect.

Would you be happy and well adjusted or miserable and unhealthy? Would you be able to successfully live as a male in 5 years? Could you see yourself in any kind of relationship as male?

2. Write down what my life would be like if I were a Female in 5 years still. My outlook, expectations ect.

Same as above. Happy, well adjusted and ready for any possible relationships? Could you live with minimal physical developments from HRT? Are you in a position to for SRS financially? Would you want SRS? Could you live with the view society has placed on us and overcome adversary?

Anyway good job on your first step in this journey!  :)

This is a good idea I think I'll try it out as well. Mine wanted to to write down what I liked about my life and what would change staying as a male and as a female to how things are now. Its a bit confusing of a topic I know. Then again my therapist is so booked it takes a month to be able to go back.
