I Have been doing therapy for 6+ months and me and my therapist know im ready to start hrt. I was waiting to get insurance from my job and they recently stopped giving it to part-time employees (walmart). I had it planned to start in November but now that im not getting insurance I need to know a few things. How much does the initial cost of the endo go for? How much do the scripts cost? Should I even bother with generic or stick with the good brands(I hear generic brands suck)?
Im in the Metro Detroit Area
If I cant afford an appointment right away, is there anything wrong with taking anti-androgen's from an online medical supply? I really do not want to but I also want to get on with my life, ive been preparing for this for a very long time and im ready to begin my new life. My girlfriend supports me 200% and wants to help me, she even offered to pay my medical costs.
I am really just looking for some advice here, I want to get started asap.

I'm not sure about initial endo visit as the lab costs are in there. T is cheap. It comes out to about 10 to 12 USD per month for injectable. You can order from Stroheckers for about $65 for a 10ml vial and your needles and swabs are included in that price.

I am on Medicare, but the cost to me without would be the following. Endo visit $160.00 per visit. Labs $500.00 per visit (full panel). Estradiol Cypionate (injection) $54.28, 90 day supply. Spironolactone $ $124.85, 90 day supply. Progesterone (injection) $39.67, 90 day supply. Needles syringes $15.00, 90 day supply. These are direct from my Medicare statement. I only pay $7.65 total for everything, 90 day supply. No difference between generic and name brand. Hope this helps. :)

Is the medicare coverage statewide for being transgender in your situation? Im not sure medicare or medicade covers that in Michigan. My therapist seems to think it doesn't but it will be changing soon.

Medicare is national and Medicaid is local. Some states Medicaid do cover it, but not many. I think only 4 or 5 states do. I have Medicare because I was injured in the line of duty and retired. It is also referred to as Social Security Disability. :)
