QuoteWatching this video, you'd think SRS is the most depressing, alienating, lonely and sordid experience one could ever have.
That's good to know! I won't watch it!
Thanks Gina for your informative review.
FWIW, there is a beautiful life after surgery.

As I lay in the prep room, with the theatre doors facing me dripped up and monitored. My heart rate was a steady 50, and with a calm and contented mind I smiled at the staff as they fussed around me. At about fifteen seconds before going though those doors and into the theatre, my general anesthetic began to work. I could feel my left hand becoming colder, and just before I fell asleep I whispered... "Woman, you will now be complete."
On waking... about twenty minutes after surgery, I could feel the pressure of the dressings and I remember simply smiling. I was told that my procedure had gone well without complication; a flood of emotion filled my heart.
On the day that all the dressings etc were removed and I was helped to the bathroom, I saw myself naked. For the first time in my life I was able to look and smile. I broke down and cried at the beauty of my body... no longer the feelings of loathing, of avoiding eye contact below the waist. Now the tears were of joy not disgust and despair, now I could look.
I have often heard it said by post-ops' with the above in mind, that they have now reached the end of the journey... I say no! It is the beginning of the rest of our lives.
Rara.

Between the ponderously sad music
The first time I watched this video (one month prior to my SRS) and listened to the music, I pictured myself in the meadows running free. I felt a combination of things, sadness, happiness, excitement, joy, uncertainty....but it was a good feeling nonetheless. :)

Wow, I'm glad I never saw a video of chest surgery before I had mine. That's heavy.

You're a clever Tinkerbell, you are.
Hey Ms Fairy. I need a miracle or two. Care to wave your magic wand my way?

Thnx for posting the video, I've seen it a few times, as well as pictures of a friend's surgery. I'm person, I've seen a couple of people vag post-op a few weeks, and those that were a year difference. I've also seen one FtM's penis and a couple of top surgeries.

It was a little gross, but what do you expect when watching surgery. The thing was a little blurry too, but what do you expect hehe, I don't think that these type of videos are made to be perfect.

Although I would really like to have GRS surgery it worries me that I won't find a reputable surgeon.......
In the U.K I've met several people who went though the NHS route where it has gone terribly wrong and one patient I met had to have 14 operations to put it right. I have also heard about others who end up having to wear a special bag to take out the urine...
The US. may be much better statistically but the dangers are never mentioned about this operation or the risks involved?

Now hopefully I'll remember where this video is and be able to watch it soon. At the moment I'm watching Melissa's kids and they are like 2 feet from me. Oh well. Should be interesting.

Thanks Tink! I had been looking for that vid for a while. Personally, I think it's beautiful. Of course I'm speaking as the person who volunteered to assist with the dissection of the school's new cadaver. ;)

Thanks for the repost of the video, Tink. As I watched it I imagined it being me on that table. I'm not squeamish about the surgery, and it actually gave me a certain comfort knowing that following that surgery I am complete.
Just yesterday I had my session with my therapist and she's going to write my first letter and give me a referral for the second letter. I'll be able to schedule my date soon.
I'm on cloud nine!
