So I have my first appointment with an Endocrinologist the first week of December.  Just out of curiosity, is it normal to wait a month to be seen?  I called several locations and that was the average response.  Sorry if this seems like a silly question, I rarely ever get sick/injured so i'm not very well experienced in the medical world.  Super excited, just hate the wait!

Also, are you given a prescription typically on your first visit with the Doctor?

A month is not unreasonable.

When I was cleared for hormones I scheduled a visit for blood work (2 week wait), then afterwards a 1 month wait for a visit and I had scripts in hand when I left.

I had to wait 3 or 4 months to get cleared psychologically. I am in an informed consent state but I was not stable. Looking back I was very well managed and the stress of transition would have been too much for me then. They had contact with my therapist, who use to work there and did their training.

Well that's good to know, I'm just impatient I guess.  My therapy is just about done, should have my letter for HRT in 2 weeks.  I'm like paranoid of not starting hormones in my 20's.  I'll be 30 in 6 months.  Totally irrational fear to have, but for some reason its bugging me.

Leeloo, being 30 is fine.. I turn 56 in a month, so you'll be totally fine.

My first endo appointment is also first week of December,  scheduled a week ago.  I was trying to do as much research as possible, so the appointment feels about 6 months past due. :(   work schedule has made it a lot harder to make the phone calls too.

I am wondering if I should have my blood work done prior?  I mean if the endo tells me to get blood work and then come back in a month and a half I might just go more crazy than I already am.  Can the appointment with the endo accomplish much without blood tests?  I have letter from therapist and primary care doctor.  Psychiatrist doesn't want to mess with it I too will be 30 in a few months.

Lol, Sister from another mister.  That's kinda crazy, I was just researching a minute ago getting blood work done prior myself for the same exact concerns you just addressed.

I have my first Endo appointment November 11th (recommended Endo by my Therapist) and it took six weeks to get in (must be a busy cat!). The anticipation is overwhelming. I am 53 so we all have our own issues with age.

The Endo wants their own blood work, make sure they order the tests. I went to my GP just two months ago for an annual physical, blood work included, but the Endo wants their own despite being recent and even including a testosterone test.
