Title: Those Hormone food cravin's
Post by: Kyra553 on October 29, 2014, 11:08:20 AM
Did anyone start getting cravings for particular foods since starting HRT???

I don't know why but I'm like always craving pickles now and I use to like them. But now...I can eat a bunch and poof I suddenly crave more of them. lol

I have also rediscovered chocolate since starting hormone replacement and I now know why women love it soooo much.   :D

Chocolate, the darker the better.  I used to be indifferent to it, now my wife and I get bummed when the other eats the last of it.

Also, refried beans at the middle and end of the progesterone cycle.  What's up with that?

In the 2nd through 8th day of my E cycle I get insatiable food pains when I wake up in the morning and several times a day. Chocolate is a beautiful thing! I eat pickles, tomatoes (with salt), hot peppers and olives for breakfast during the week.

My appreciation of chocolate has definitely increased too. I used to hate dark chocolate but now it tastes amazing. I also crave salt a lot now. I think that's probably the spiro. My biggest craving of all though is cheese and meat. I wasn't eating much of that stuff before HRT and was mostly eating vegetables but it just feels like I can't get enough of that stuff lately!

I will be starting soon and have been wondering about chocolate. I have been partial to it as a flavoring but eating chocolate candies have always given me these weird sores in my mouth. Maybe it's a mixed blessing lol. My real concern is that I eat an awful lot in general and it usually goes right through me. Hopefully I don't blow up  >:(

I'm in my 8th week. Everything tastes better and has for some time, but some things are special. Chocolate is much better. And, yes, I think the spiro  makes more salt necessary, but the really surprising thing is my craving for hot peppers, the hotter, the better. I seem to need them every single day. I'm not sure if I'm surprised that so many others say the same. Capsicum causes the body to release endorphins. Are we more addicted to our bodies natural opiates, or is it compensation for some bodily system that's still developing? I guess time will tell.

I grow ghost peppers and habenero peppers now.

I seem to be in the same boat.

I swear, I will drink good hot sauce now.

Yes,
Very strange. I get these terrible cravings for Crisp Bread, Cheddar Cheese and a teaspoon of Branston Piclke on the Cheese.

After 3 pieces my cravings go.

But last thing at night (and I know I shouldn't eat this,) just after I take one of my Blue pills, I really need Dark Chocolate with Nuts!!

Crazy stuff.

PS One interesting thing is that I get terrible sore nipples about 12 hours after my night blue pill which lasts until about 1 hour after my night time daily pill. My Doctor told me last week that I should consider increasing my dose to twice daily. So one at 11pm (I take my blue pill with my bedtime milk drink) and the second around midday. She reckons that should s"pace" me out better. Mind you I am pretty much spaced out!!!! already

I love good peppers. I've had the Trinidad scorpion but I want to try the Carolina reaper.

You're all so lucky to still enjoy junkfood. I can't even stand being near a fast-food restaurant as the smell turn my stomach upside-down. Same for my "may kill for" craving, they end up after eating only a little piece of the targeted food. Half a square of chocolate then poof craving over and chocolate taste become nearly bad. I miss the time I was enjoying my ... full box of chocolate bar, as craving :).

Well I must admit that I now crave for cinnamon I could eat a full stick sometime before going to bed :O

I've been cooking with scotch bonnet's, bird's eye chilies and jalapenos lately. Actually I just ordered a pizza with both jalapenos and banana peppers on it. I've always really loved spicy foods though so I can't blame the HRT.

It sounds like a cliche but I really started eating a lot of pickles too.  I never ate pickles much before, but I started buying them by the gallon, and a gallon only lasted a week or two.  I'd often eat two big pickles with a sandwich.

I went off MTF HRT 2 weeks ago and I don't think I've had a pickle since.  Go figure :D

Salt!!!! I'm eating some salt and vinegar chips right now but I really shouldn't since they are high in potassium  :eusa_naughty:

And spicy foods too. Everything tastes more bland to me these days and i'm reaching for the salt and pepper shakers a lot more often.

And..... i finally understand the woman-chocolate connection; i went thru a period where i could not get enough chocolate and I used to not care one whit about it in my previous life. I even have bags of chocolate candy hiding in my desk at work just in case a sudden urge hits

Yeah Lindt Lindor. They were especially cheap a few weeks ago. Worked my way through all the varieties available (except caramel, too sweet for me and chocolate orange *bleurgh*). They don't contain trans fat here in the European version that I'm aware of.

It's now back to regular cheap block dark chocolate for me. Craving it badly right now as I'm in the office.

Oh okay. I don't recal anything about trans fat either but it's been a while since I had any. Just remember looking at the nutritional values and was like omg, these will kill meh. But ate em anyways hahaha

Same I don't like the orange or caramel ones either.

Dark chocolate is better for ya :)
Oh and I like Cadbury milk chocolate bars too omg

I noticed I have random specific cravings. But they aren't specific. Normally I would just be "I am hungry and need food." Now its "I really want a freaking bagle right now!" Or something.

Yeah, my wife used to devour an entire bag of potato chips in a sitting. Now, she has to fight me for it or buy her own. Salt and vinegar is a personal weakness of mine.

I love things salty, chocolatey, spice and/or sour like never before.

Definitely chocolate and oreos lol they're just my weakness ::)
Why not craving a nice pot of lettuce or broccoli?   :P but noo,  had to crave fattening stuff hahaha
When I was younger there was this commercial on TV where this little boy would stop in front of the vegetable area in a grocery store and start begging his mom to buy broccoli, like kids do when they want a toy hahaha wish I was like him... Haha

LOL this is so funny since starting on HRT. I've been craving everything spicy. I'm eating jalapenos like their candy I have habaneros on my salads and I've even tried a smoked ghost pepper (OUCH...!), but the one thing that I cannot get enough of our green olives. I don't know if it's the saltiness of him that I'm creating or what, but I just cannot get enough of them. I'm scared to try chocolate is I really liked it before and I'm afraid I would really love it. And the biggest problem with that is I'm diabetic so I need to stay away from it. Well that's my two cents worth.

Hugs,

Melissa Ann

Oh hey, hey hey heyyy... I'm just... I'm gonna pretend like I didn't read that last part, k?  :o

Because omg, those things are just amazing.  I always loved them, but now, they just... I don't even have words.

(But don't worry, I don't actually eat them very often, but it's *such* a treat whenever I do, and I would eat them all the time if they weren't so bad for me, lol.)

:D

Otherwise... it was chips two nights ago.  I hadn't really had much I would describe as craving before that (chocolate doesn't count, because it just so obviously deserves to be craved that it isn't even weird).  But I just had to have those chips, with all their salty, greasy goodness.  I think I should try peppers and pickles, those sound like much healthier cravings to me!

For me its fruit.....Mango's and Strawberries especially, but anything like pears, oranges, apples etc. I have to agree with the whole chocolate thing, although Im too scared too buy it half the time(my subconscious is screaming u will get fat!). And chilli's, I put them in anything although that's not entirely new for me. Working in a Thai kitchen for two years pretty much made me love all things spicey. >:-)
