A year? 6 months? Immediately? Years before? I'm curious! :angel:

I went full time before HRT! I just jumped in the deep end of the pool. My Therapy team usually does not give letters until the client presents, so I presented and just never wanted to go back. I went full time my first day of presenting and it was so nice! Eases confusion of going back and forth for me. :)

3 1/2 months on HRT, I went full time after getting male fail.

I went full time 3 months after starting HRT. By this time I was already going to my therapist for over a year and I just knew I had to move forward... I was super scared but things went well and I felt much better :) funny enough,  the week I went full time things started happening in my life. I went full time on a Tuesday. Wednesday night I found out I got accepted in my university, thursday I had my last consultation before my rhinoplasty, friday I enrolled and monday morning I was off to my first day of classes. It was pretty intense haha  :P

4 months. I'd planned to wait at least to six months, but facial changes and breast development (I was 42C at that point) outed me to my boss at work and I gave up and advanced the plans. :) I was sometimes having trouble passing as male by 3 months in, anyway.

I started presenting as female in public four months before I started HRT. I went full-time 11 days after starting HRT which is the same day that I got my first women's haircut and ditched the wigs. I realised today that I probably mostly pass now... until I have to say more than "hey" or "thanks" or something and then it's still hard but I'm getting there. :)

Starting out I was planning on it taking 10 months, but due to support of friends and family it dropped to 2 months. Just sorta realized it one day!

2 months on a low dose of E only. 

I began to feel so wrong having to dress like a guy when running errands or going out that I asked myself why in the world I was still doing that.  I was going out at night at that point anyway, but when I realized that I was just doing boy mode to appease what I perceived to be society's expectations of me (I don't have kids or work outside the home), I pretty much immediately stopped caring about what other people thought of me and lived geniunely as myself from then on.  Plus my nipples were REALLY sticking out.  Hey, when you're more comfy in women's clothes in public and feel ridiculous in guy/andro clothes, it's totally over.

Yeah, totally! Once I'd told everyone that I was transitioning I was always worried that someone I knew would see me dressed as a guy and I'd feel humiliated... so I guess the fear of being seen pretending to be a man became bigger than the worry that someone might perceive me as a man dressed as a woman.

Well, when women jeans became more comfortable than men ones and I needed to wear bra not to cry because of boobs rubbing on my tops. :)

Actually, a year.. I was on herbals Oct '13 to June '14, then switched to drug hormones, about a month ago, I got my first wig, and THAT finally I was able to see my real reflection.  mostly FT, just not at work.  But since I've been off work since Oct 20th, I am full-time now... not sure when I go back (currently in limbo thanks to a  #%$(^  %#%$  $*^ cousin who f'ed up my career)  When I do, I will be 100% FT.. already changed drivers lic, Co. ID, name and pic.

so.. short answer.. 5 mos on real HRT and I'm FT now.  My voice, hasn't caught up yet.  But I get gendered female almost always, clothes, hair (really good  wigs , profile pic), mannerisms..

about 3 months prior to HRT

21 months though I got  male fail as I'd had a lot of electrolysis and had long dyed red permed hair.Ideally I'd have liked to finish electrolysis and felt Charing Cross pushed me into full time sooner than I liked but it all worked out OK

im not full time yet, nor have I started hormones or laser hair removal, but this is a really interesting topic. I should be starting hormones this winter and I am almost to the point where I have enough money to start lasers, but ne ways the plan is to live full time in six months or so after I start hrt.

I guess  I'm full  time about 7  months in

 a bit over two years before I went fulltime.  by then, most people that I was around a lot had figured it out, so it made things a bit easier as far as coming out.

About 2 and a half months before HRT.

Right now the plan is for January, which will be 7 months in.  However, work is the only aspect of my life where I am not out, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep it separate.  So, if they find out early I will probably just go for it now.

   Full time July 2013 HRT Dec 25 2013, I just could not wait .

For me, I'll have my 3rd Therapy session in 2 days. My Therapist wants me to come as Jessika instead of Guy Mode. (No idea why), but I agreed. :)
On Friday she has me set up with a Psychologist so I will get evaluated to make sure I'm sound of mind in what I am doing.

I have a contact to start getting Laser hair removal of the face. It's all I care for atm, I can do the rest myself for the time being. I will not start HRT until after the Laser is complete more than likely.

Not sure which HRT path I will take since I'm 47 but in good health.

I just hope I get thru it safe and happily.

Definitely an interesting topic.  I find it fascinating how spread out the spectrum is, though a rough bell curve gives it a few months in to go ft.  I haven't started HRT yet (hopefully this winter), and i'm not out at work yet, officially anyway (several people at work know, others kind of guessing, and there are rumors going around that I've heard about), but i only present in guy mode when I'm on my way, at, or coming from work.

   Jessika the first time I met with a doctor at the VA in West Palm FL I went fully dressed. They knew I meant what I was telling them and never questioned me. Walking down the hallways with all those brave men gave me the confidence to go full time and I never have looked back. It took 5 more months to get Hrt but by that time dressing was second nature besides all the guy clothes were gone !

For me at 6 months I needed to go full time or go insane and I never looked back !

Still holding out after 13 months on low dose only.

It has been hard but getting closer every day. :)

About 2-3 months after HRT started.

For me it was 4 months post hrt. It all just got too much and i had to leap forward and go fulltime.  Not that i pass all the time, but i don't really care...
I now see why so many relocate and start their life over as the new person.

For me, it was 2 years almost exactly. I began HRT on September 25th, 2012 and legally transitioned on September 29th, 2014, at which point the very last of the male clothing in my closet went bye-bye. I went slow for various family reasons, even though my marriage is on the rocks anyway. My good will seems to have earned me a closer relationship with my adult daughter than I ever had before.

More than 5 years and counting, with most of it low dose. Its a bit of a struggle, but I'm trying not to go full time anytime soon.

I'm at 15 months and still not full time. That should be changing this month once my name change goes thru. I am completely out everywhere but at work they asked if I can wait until my name change so I am. I present male there but let's be honest that doesn't work to well and a lot of my coworkers already call me Hayley.

I am such a bloody engineer.  :laugh:  I laid out a schedule - six months to get fit + a year and a half of Minoxidil and Finasteride.  Two years of electrolysis.  Two years of HRT.  So very dude like.  It all went away when my tits refused to hide behind a sports bra, and I just couldn't face another Costco sport shirt.  Turned out to take me about sixteen months in the real world and two years to get the Federal Government to start calling me girlfriend.

I was on low dose HRT for about 4-5 years before switching to full strength HRT which I've been on a year now. I've been full time since August 17th.

Good question I really don't know the answer. It's not like I set a date and started living fulltime on that day. Mine was a gradual slide starting about the second month on hormones. I told my employer about the 9th month. But I'm thinking it was around last December when actually kinda realized I'm living full time when I realized I couldn't remember the last time I wore my male clothes. So I'll say about the 10/11th month.  ;D

Approaching 18 months and still do not intend to go FT. On the other hand, I do not live as a guy anymore either :).

This is really useful info, call me a data geek but I'd love to see a poll like there was about heights! Too shy to start one though (blush). I'm hoping I'll go ft at 12 months but it all depends. Wow I just realized I need to start working on my voice.

8 or 9 years!  I have had full electro and can mostly still pass as male, but "different." My wife fully supports me but work is problematic, and at my age too difficult to find new decently paying job.  HRT has made it totally livable however.

Went full time before hrt and before having a decent amount of hair length.

No full time for me yet and I've been on full strength hormones for 4 months now.  Slowly I am introducing various facets of womanhood into my everday appearence.  No matter how feminine I look though, it won't do any good until every last hair is eradicated from my face.  I'm looking at you pitch black moustache hairs that still pop through even with the closest shave possible.

3 months of boob growth was enough to out me to mom, and I'm 35 and not overweight. Oh well, so many girls have the flat-chested problem, I'm not going to complain.

I went full time the day I started HRT..

I had do a lot of planning to pull that off, Had laser before HRT, on my chest, arms and face... I did not want laser my chest while my boobs were coming out.. that sounds like torture.

I also moved to a new town right before HRT, so it kinda made sense to start this new life as woman... so full time it was.

I'm actually having them vaporized via laser.  My cheeks and neck worked amazingly, but under the nose and chin are a nightmare.

I hadn't really planned on it but about 3 1/2 months in the time felt right, just before this semester. I've been full time since and everything's been pretty good so far. ^_^

Big mistake. I was fired from two jobs in the meantime because I was waiting to pass first, and putting up with the dysphoria in the meantime.

Yes, I did pass as soon as I went full-time, but the wait was seriously hellish. I should have gone full-time back at 7 months or so when I started passing consistently in a wig. But I was too stubborn to be forced to use something "fake" in order to pass, and ended up denying my own happiness because of that stubbornness.

I was expecting to somehow earn the right to be female. It was only after going full-time that I finally realized that I already was, and there was nothing to earn, and no magical switch that I had to wait for.

I went full time 5 months before starting HRT. I lost my job and my insurance in September 2013 and was not able to get to a doctor until the Affordable Healthcare Act kicked in. The last time I wore male clothing was the last day I worked at my last job.

When I first started HRT, I was into the "full time in months" stage myself. Fast forward to 5+ years of chronic unemployment and it the fact it was tough to save up money, I now finally have the funds, credit, and planning to get my FFS done.

Yeah, it's one of those things where you hope the development sticks to your plans, but you're kinda excited when nature pushes you forward faster than you anticipated.

Congratulations! I also waited until I was able to have FFS, before going full-time.

I was a bit less than six months from HRT to my name change(RLE)

I was full time several years before I started HRT or anything else. Honestly if I was able to do this over, I would have done voice therapy before HRT.

I think its crazy how many people went full time before they even started hormones. I have thought about doing that. I guess I am too scared. its awesome that you were able to.

For me it is important that I pass before i go full time.

About 3 months before HRT

I truly hope my chest gets the same ideas it seems to have for so many here.

I've only had a bit over a month of HRT and it's become more and more difficult each day to have to present as male. I feel like one of these days I'll just say enough and go all out without looking back.

I am very surprised at how many people started so early o.o

You don't think we were scared? Going full time is scary I don't care who you are or how long you have been on HRT. If you wait till it isn't scary, you will never do it because that will never happen.

Five months and nine days. I did not pass, (and I still don't after 18 months) but I was fed with part timing. Basically I went full time when I stopped needing breastforms and a wig.

Im sure. that is why i admire people that do it before they even start hrt. I do think for me it would be better to start ft after hormones and after 2 or 3 sessions of lasers. because i am young (23) and i already have a semi feminine figure ( my measurements are 35-27-35). so i have a decent chance to passing.

I would love to pass at least some of the time before i start.

I took my first estradiol shot on July 22, 2011, and went full time on September 7th. So I waited six weeks and two days. Not before HRT, but not far from it. It's funny, I guess I passed, but honestly, I don't know how.

I was on Hormones for three years before going full time.  I was really thin  at the start, it took a while for the foster family to get with the picture and  since I had already lost my bio family I was over anxious over losing a second family. When I did go full time I had already gone passed the androgenous look so most people assumed me as female too.
