Title: Endometrial ablation success?

Has anyone here had the endometrial ablation procedure and was it successful in stopping periods? I read that it's not guaranteed to stop so if I were to go with this option I certainly wouldn't want to have it done for nothing. I had medications to stop the monthly monstrosity but I don't think I should continue it due to the side effects they caused me. I don't know if there are other ways without surgery though is there?

I thought of hormone blockers too but will the doctor prescribe it if I don't want to take any additional hormones?
I already took T for some time but I don't think it would work if I just took that since I wouldn't be taking the recommended amount. Because It also comes with side effects that I can't live with unfortunately.

Hello,
My wife had an endometrial ablation done in March and has not had a period since. She only has one regret, that she didn't get it done sooner. She also was required to have a tubal ligation completed with it because her doctors did not want any chance of her accidentally conceiving without a uterine lining which would be very bad. Not sure why since my wife and I have the same gynecologist who performed my hysto am month later. LOL.
The pain level post procedure is relative to the worst period that you have ever had but does not last that long. There is a small amount of discharge in which you are getting rid of the lining of the uterus but it is not that bad. As long as you take it easy afterwards ( which my wife did not) the discomfort passes rather quickly and then you are done...no more monthlies.
If you have the choice, ask for the Novasure Ablation. Do not get the "rollerball" one as it is the older technology which takes longer time to perform and to heal.

young trans women/men have to use them because they don't want to effects of puberty, so i think it's worth a shot. if you explain your situation to the (right) doctor it's worth a shot; maybe even an endo?

Thank you for the information. I will ask about the Novasure. I was also told that I don't get to be asleep when this is done? I definitely want to be unconscious because I cannot tolerate it being awake. I hope they will consider this.
Palexander, I am actually past puberty and when I initially mentioned it to the LGBT doctor he didn't think it was right for me because he said I would still need to take hormones. I only saw an Endo once but I will ask him when I go.

You cannot take blockers long term without additional hormones, whether estrogen (although there would be no point taking blockers if you were) or testosterone, because a lack of sex hormones is very detrimental to your bone density, leading to things like osteoporosis.
How many types of bc have you tried? There are several different types consisting of various different hormones. Just because one has worked it doesn't mean that all of them won't. Having a hysto is another option if you can find anyone who will do it, but again, you'll need some form of additional sex hormone just the same as if you were on blockers.

I see, so then would I be able to get by without getting more unhealthy than I already become by being on a low dose T all my life that approximately equals a T-serum of 100-300 in a blood test result? If so then maybe I could consider it...
I was initially on Depo Provera for over 3 years then I was given seasonale and now the current one called Errin (Norethindrone). Should I try something else?

A guy in my group is going to get a hysto without removal of the ovaries, so he doesn't have to take T forever (he's nonbinary). Maybe that's an option? I'm not sure how it works, so maybe you should discuss it with a doctor.

I am also nonbinary. Is that what they call partial hysto? Do you know if insurances will cover this procedure?

I too want my monthly bleeding stopped ASAP. I am young 23 and don't think I can find a dr to do endometrial ablation and then the question will this procedure stop all the monthly bleeding. I have read quit a bit about the procedure and there seems to be a high percentage of cases where there are problems so it is not a fail proof procedure. I don't want to take any female hormones for I don't want them in my body and any of the side effects that I could also get from them so female hormones are not for me. I am not in the position to afford a hysto at this time even if I could find a surgeon to do the procedure on me. For me I think the fast way to stopping them is getting on t.

I think this is best discussed with a doctor, they'll probably know more about it. I kinda just wanted to mention the option exists here (only first time I heard of it though)
