Title: Considering sperm freezing - is it worth if I don't plan to be with a woman?
Post by: Emma_ on November 05, 2014, 01:59:23 AM
Hi!
I'm writing, because I would like to ask about your experience in this topic.
I am starting hrt soon. Before it, I am considering to freeze my sperm.
Is it worth to do it if I don't plan to be with any girl?
I am considering about doing it, but I am not sure I would ever use it...
What is your experience with it? Have you freezes your sperm even you plan to have a boyfriend?

Honestly, I would do it. When I first started hormones I didn't want to because I was in a dark place at the time & I just really wanted them asap with no delay. I wish now that I would've though because I often see men I find attractive & wish I could have kids with them :/ It's weird to explain but I wish I could find a really pretty white girl & have her surrogate. It's odd to explain.. :p

Bottom line, YES. Just do it because down the line you might wish to have kids still.

I think it's pretty valid... I mean,  who knows the future? You might wanna have a biological son and if you do, the genetic material will be right there. :)
I didn't... Personally the whole idea that I'd have a baby with a woman and the fact I'd not carry my own child just didn't resonate well with me... If I could have a baby with my future husband then most certainly I would have frozen... Maybe medicine will get there one day,  but as of today I think I'd be more at peace if I just adopted.

The main. Thing is so that if you're partner has a sister you can have a baby by surrogate that's part you. Unfortunately nature made the decision for me and I'm completely infertile. Yay self esteem!!!

If you can afford it why not,  you've got nothing to lose other than money :)

For me, sperm freezing wasn't even an afterthought. I never did it nor considered it

1. I have a chronic genetic disease that I don't want to keep in the gene pool
2. I would want a baby to have both my and my boyfriend's genes, which is impossible currently
3. I couldn't bear to have a surrogate bear my child. My dysphoria wouldn't be able to handle not being able to carry my boyfriend's baby myself

If you share none of those issues, if you can afford it, go ahead :>

The only way for now is to have a 'help' of a sister (yours or his)... the genes are the same...

For me it doesn't matter. If I could have a child with my and my boyfriend's genes it would be perfect. What is 9 months of surrogate to the rest of life with your children? ;)

Here is a link to information you can use for a decision. Most feel 12 years is about the longest you can do it and have viable embryo's.  :)
