Title: AETNA and Other Procedures

Looking at AETNA's site I see they removed the trans exclusion and now cover GRS. They say they consider FFS, VFS, etc., to me cosmetic and so don't cover it. Continuing my research I found a blog where the blogger said they covered 100% of her FFS, and hair transplants. Anyone with more knowledge on navigating insurance have any ideas? Will they cover them if a provider writes a letter stating medical necessity? Is this something I'll need to argue over with them?

Aetna is definitely out there with the frontrunners in covering gender-related procedures, but I also noticed their lengthy list of exclusions for things like FFS. Basically, Aetna will cover the GRS and that's about it. Exceptions to the rule? No idea, but I imagine it'll be a nightmare trying to squeeze any more money out of an insurance company, especially when they feel they're already doing us a "favor" by covering GRS at last.

all Aetna plans? And how much do they pay and who will take it? My job offers an Aetna plan but I'm on emblem health via my wife right now. I've even seriously considered moving to Connecticut where it is mandated by law.
