I'm pretty new here and i just came out today to my boyfriend. We were wondering if it is possible for me to have a prostate? I actually barely know anything about the surgeries involved and my English isn't very good and I don't know what these scientific words mean. I tried reading about it but the words are really confusing me.

Hi there
Welcome to Susan's :) Great to have you here - looking forward to seeing you around the forum.
I would think that from a surgical point of view that would be a "no". It's possible I guess that you might have a prostate if you are intersex but you might have to have a full examination to discover that. Believe me they're more trouble than they're worth... apart from also potentially getting cancer it can swell and make urination difficult if not painful.

Quote from: WbMDThe prostate is a walnut-sized gland located between the bladder and the penis. The prostate is just in front of the rectum. The urethra runs through the center of the prostate, from the bladder to the penis, letting urine flow out of the body. The prostate secretes fluid that nourishes and protects sperm. [Link]

I don't think it's possible unless you are intersex. Why do you ask? That is, do you have a particular reason to believe that you do have a prostate, or are you just dealing with confusing terminology?

My understanding, such as it is, is that there is a gland called the Skene, that is kind of analogous to the prostrate (no cancers or BPA, afaik), but can get stimulated similarly. Also that T grows the Skene. It's also possible that someone is intersex without knowing it. Happens more often than you'd think. In intersex it's possible that one's chromosomes, hormones, internal, or external organs are ambiguous. It's not just the external organs like people commonly think.
