Title: Laughed while dilating and dilator came half way out now in pain....
Post by: nicolegn7 on November 18, 2014, 05:56:06 PM
Was on the phone and my friend said something hilarious and I laughed real hard. I know, a big no no. Im 2 weeks post op. No bleeding, just a little pain in my right labia area. I am thinking I popped 1 stitch as I see it there but it looks totally fine to me and the same as it has been looking the last few days. Should I be concerned? Ugh Post Op care is almost worse than the surgery and initial recovery itself :/

Yes, been warned by izzy and others. Laughing, sneezing and coughing will always do that.
As far as stitches, maybe email your surgeon?

Yea I know, I just didn't expect it. But it looks totally fine so Im trying to not worry. I think I'm going to skip my last dilation tonight just to let it heal since it might be swollen or something and do an extra 10min tomorrow on each number.

That's probably normal; if you'd broken an important stitch you *would* know it. (And if you popped one of the tiny ones, it won't matter - things will still heal up fine with the occasional very small glitch like that.)

I did that sneezing, and yeah, ow.

As Dr. Brassard says there is three times more stitches inside you do not see.

As long as no major blood you should be ok.

I popped a few earlier then others. Just made healing there longer.

As always we are not doctors so contact the nurses at the center with picture and questions.

Hug
Wait to you shoot the dilator to end of the bed. Lol!

Ow! Speedy recovery. I think I'll stay away from comedies when I need to do that.

Damn the torpedoes?

Sorry, bad Jill...

I hope you will be OK, and thanks for the heads up and glimpse of my future.

Was hoping you would reply since I know you are a Brassard girl. No major blood except for the very little spotting and the yellowish discharge on my liner. I think I just was sore.

I think all of us have done that at one time or another.  I was private messaged by a new girl on another site who had read my story about it.  Her PM took a scary tack because it happened when she had an actual mirror near the dilator when it ejected, and it cracked the mirror in her hand. Good thing it did not actually break it into slivers.

On my first experience, I did have a small muscle strain that ouched for about a day.  Those dilators are made from HARD plastic, and those muscles do have heavy contraction.  You should be fine, but ask the doctor if it is really bothering you.

Hey girl! Glad your doing well! You leave the home soon if not already, correct? Be ready, I feel like it's harder at home. They had us on a schedule there, at home so many temptations, 4x a day dilations arent really painful but SO annoying. You cant have a normal life since your prepping, dilating, clean up, then shower and douche or sitz bath. It's so annoying!

I always turn off the TV and air conditioner and even though dilator number 1 goes in a bit better now than the first week, dilator 2 is the one I really need to watch out for. When it's 7 inches deep or going in slowly, Im concentrating and my body is still like a statue, not cramping or making any movement as I know one small jerk or giggle or cough would hurt me completely. I do start to sweat since it hurts the first time it goes in but then i start slowly making the dilator 2 go in and out and take it out put more lube on it then gradually repeat the in and out, like masturbating. Then once it's loose in there and can freely feel "untightened" I leave it in there just to the end of the vaginal wall and wait for however long my regime schedule shows.

Dilator number 3....i have to start that next week and i am so not looking forward to it.....  :'(

Yup going home tomorrow, can't wait. I think I can manage, since it's only the first 3 months or so that will be quite intense. Keeping schedule, that's my forte :p

Feels so good to go home. How was your group. They seemed so boring, complainers and not very friendly

They are ok, don't talk much either. Oh well can't be picky, it's just my luck. Some of them are pretty good though.

I also went to Brassard, and I should have added that I actually did tear out one of the external stitches at about a week and a half post-op. All that happened was that a spot about 1/4" long gaped wider than I was really happy about, and healed a bit more slowly, but it did heal; not even a scar now. (I did check with the surgeon and sent photos, and they said it'd be fine, and it was.)

That first month was so brutal I had a spreadsheet to keep track of everything. :) After that, it eased off sharply.
