Title: That Perfect Connection

A question was proposed earlier on Tumblr by someone whom I consider to be one of the most amazing creatures on the planet, Xia d'Hurbin (http://poetbastard.tumblr.com):
"Do you believe there are people that are perfect for each other?"
I love answering question like this, because I know there are a lot of people out there who would say yes, or have an answer that's far too romantic than necessary.
I like to believe that there are these very rare connections, and they are more often occurring between great distance. Seeing things in someone that reflect yourself (interests, beliefs, perspectives) is not necessarily a connection waiting to happen. That is you trying to fill a void, and you don't do that via someone else. That's something you have to fill with your Self.
Real connections are not justified by similarity, and they do not discriminate. They defy logic, and contain no sensibility. A real connection just is. Even if you never talk to the person ever again, that connection is still there. There's no breaking it once it's made. There's only the act of not acknowledging it, like compartmentalising a memory to a place unaccessible.
It's a cosmic joke, really...but the punchline is, essentially, up to you.
What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you believe in soulmates; that perfect connection?

Yes I do believe in soulmates as I know that my wife is mine. We are always finishing sentences and thoughts for each other. We know each other inside and out. I have been a friend of my wife for 24 years and we have been together for 16, and married for 14. The only thing that scares me about transition is the possibility of loosing my best friend, as she does not want to see me during or after transition. I love her and feel really bad that she is hurting during this process, but I can not contuine as I am. I know that I am not the only one here that suppressed these feelings and figured out later in life that you needed to change in order to be happy. Well she can not grasp this fact and thinks that I can just put it away and carry on as I have been for the rest of my life, well I tried that for two years and that did not work because we are where we are today, facing th posssibility of divorce and loosing my soulmate.
Thanks for listening and letting me ramble on.

Yes, I do; my wife has been that for me since the age of 17, and transition only made her more perfect for me. :)
With that said, I'm going to politely suggest that the moderators move this thread - this section is for the posting [not commenting] of SOs only.

This wasn't plain to me, and I didn't know where else to post it. The subject matter relates to the forum topic, so it seemed like a valid place.

I wish I knew how to be less intimidating, but then that would probably destroy my character. I'm a very cerebral person. I get emotionally attached to intangible things like music, art, beauty in general. Romantically, I'm null. I always connect better on the mental or spiritual plane. Well... either connect or repel. I'm an anomaly of nature. I belong in some isolated cabin on a mountain overlooking a majestic valley or an alien landscape. Human love is something I'll never know properly. I exist in a vacuum. Ideas, philosophies, and truths are my only lovers. If I can touch it, I will inevitably turn it to dust.
