Yep, went to the Military base, checked in and was told my Doc was on assignment (Navy Reserve), so I saw a different Doc for my Stomach/throat issue. Mentioned Anxiety and he wanted to know what was causing it.
I kinda tried to avoid the question.
I just let it all out and he never hear of Gender Dysphoria, but my medical record sure states so now. hehe
We talked about Insurance and he was nice enough to see if my Insurance covered HRT, it didn't..I panicked.
Then I remember that VA covers it based on http://www.va.gov/vhapublications/ViewPublication.asp?pub_ID=2863 (http://www.va.gov/vhapublications/ViewPublication.asp?pub_ID=2863).
So I just got back from a local VA hospital. I called them 4 times and got no answer and ended up driving 12 miles there. Filled out the paperwork and the Guy told me I should get a letter in a bout a week notifying me of who my Primary Doc will be.
So now I have 2 Primary Docs, one on the base for my other health, and my new one soon for my transition related aspects. :)
4 sessions with my Therapist done and awaiting my Letter once she decides to send/give it to me so I can take it to VA.
I'm moving along. yay

Are you still active duty in the military?
And congratulations for getting started. It helps a lot once you star taking control.

I am hopefully starting hormones soon and I guess TRICARE won't pay so maybe it's time for me to visit the VA too.
I think TRICARE will pay half the cost of the therapist visits, at least for the first couple of months. I'll find out soon anyway when I file the claim.

Are you on Tricare Prime? I'm only paying Co-pay.

I have Tricare Prime. But the therapist I went to is outside the Tricare network. So I think they will reimburse 50%.
When I comes time for the endocrinologist I was expecting Tricare not to cover that at all.

Quote from: Deborah on November 20, 2014, 05:20:57 PMNo, Tricare does not cover HRT/Endo at all. I found that out today so went to the local VA Hospital and updated my info there. Waiting on a letter in a week with my new Primary Doctor for Outpatient aspects.

I still use my Inpatient Doc on Base for other things.
VA covers it because of the VA Transgender Bible (http://www.va.gov/vhapublications/ViewPublication.asp?pub_ID=2863) that was linked to me. :)
