Title: Researching Surgeons for srs
Post by: FinallyMe84 on November 22, 2014, 08:43:30 AM
Well, I finally got my name change made official! On to the next step! I've put in time here and there looking into various surgeons, but have not even come close to a decision. What makes things worse is that I found out that the insurance I have, which I thought would cover the procedure, does not cover it. I was considering Bowers more than anyone else for that reason, plus a girlfriend of mine recently had hers done with her and she is very happy with the results. Now I'm back to square one and really looking into all aspects of many different surgeons, particularly Dr chettawut. A lot of girls seem to really like him, and since cost is a big concern for me now I'm moving towards having my surgery with him.

So excited just to be thinking about this and that my gcs is right around the corner!

Anyway, I also have a question. All the surgeons require a deposit to reserve a date. Is that in addition to the total cost or is it included as part of the cost of the surgery?

Included.

You will just have to plan extra costs:

Flight
Hotel
Reduced income while on sick leave
Items to buy (gets expensive fast)
Etc.

Thanks myarkstir! I know, uughh, it's so expensive! I'm going to take $ out of a retirement account my mom set up for me. This is much more important right now  ;)

My surgeon (Dr. Kathy Rumer) sent me a complete quote when I inquired. It included the deposit which was applied to the total cost. There was very literally NOTHING else I had to pay either her or the hospital for the whole stay and procedure.
