Title: Internal struggles and questions
Post by: Galaxymuffin on November 22, 2014, 10:30:31 AM
Hello I'm new here, I've long considered transitioning but there have been a few reasons why I haven't yet, I'm really tall and afraid I'd never be able to pass considering the fact I'm nearly 7ft tall with masculine features and a deep voice, I feel as though I'll never really be happy in my own skin but the fear of never passing is a painful one too. Advice? :3.

Some of the happiest women I know don't pass. Many of them are thrilled with their transition, just thankful for the opportunity to be themselves. On the converse, some of the most trouble post-transition women are those that are semi-stealth and are always concerned that their secret will come out.

Accepting your height and making the most of your life.  :)
Yes,  7ft is tall...  I know it's not the same but I'm gonna give you one example:
My legs before hrt were p-e-r-f-e-c-t without me even trying.  After I started hrt I got cellulite and it started to bug me like there's  no tomorrow... So my therapist said: you can either have cellulite or live your life as a man. That's the price for being a woman.
It isn't the same but the idea behind is: what do you want more: be a 7ft tall woman, taller than most, or be a 7ft tall man whose height will bring some positive views?
What at the end of the day will make you happier with yourself? Think about that ;)

Being tall means we stand out in a crowd and it is harder to simply blend in as one of the girls.  Being seen or noticed is a fact of our tall life while passing is really something we cannot absolutely be sure of.  I like Gabi's idea of finding/doing what makes you happier with yourself.  there are always tradeoffs it seems.

And, of course, WELCOME to Susan's we hope you will continue to contribute and share.
