Title: Whats more important to maintain? Depth or width?
Post by: nicolegn7 on November 22, 2014, 04:01:16 PM
Somedays I have problems with my thicker dilator. It dries out inside me and gets stuck to the point it takes longer to come out the my dilating session. When I skip my thicker dilator I make sure I use my thinner one in its replacement. Ive heard width can be reclaimed and one stretches when having intercourse but depth ca not. How true is that? Whats more important for a heterosexual transwoman who will be having intercourse with men?

Both are important.  Just be patient, be strong and rigorously follow your doctor instructions.  You'll be fine :)

Depth I believe is 6 inches, I hide all the dots. Width would be max the 3rd dilator from Brassard which I believe is 1 3/8

Depth.

Width can always be worked back with dilations.

You loose depth the surgery is the only way to fix.

None are really worth loosing.

Depth. Brassard also used to tell us that width could be gained anytime but depth once lost was gone forever; the instructions also used to say that if you couldn't manage a bigger dilator, to do exactly what you're doing - maintain depth with more frequent dilations with the smaller one until you can work up to bigger.

My own experience was that when I went on a business trip and brought only the smallest dilator (no room in the suitcase), the bigger ones were a bit painful and stretching upon my return, but I was back up to the orange one within 2-3 days. So it was definitely true for me.

Also, as Cosmo will tell you... ;) If you're having sex with men, there are tips and tricks for dealing with a really long penis, but a too-wide one just isn't going in, period. So I guess from a sex standpoint, width matters more (but again, since any loss there is temporary, it's not as crucial to *maintain* it).

Last week I had a chat with an old ts girlfriend. She quit dilating after 1 year post-op. Her neo vag shrunk to 2 inches. She doesn't care she told me, as she is lesbian and just saw no point in dilating anymore.

So yeah, I guess depth must be maintained. Width can be gained. Hey, doesn't that rhyme? The maximum width -as I've was told- is 4cm/1.6 inches. Due to some physical limitation in the body involving a muscle of some sorts. So I guess it's not such a stretch after all... sheesh I am so corny...  ^-^

PinkCloud : I would imagine that depends to some degree on personal anatomy; I have no trouble believing it of myself, as I have the 1.5" Soul Source dilator and that's plenty large enough... :) but there are women who can never manage one that large, and those who claim to be able to handle fisting.

(The same is true of cis women, of course. There's a limit both to the PC muscle, which can be trained to stretch to some extent, and the width of the pelvis [which obviously cannot].)
