Title: An interesting thing happened in a bathroom...
Post by: Beth Andrea on November 22, 2014, 09:54:36 PM
So I was out and about one day, and had to go potty. McD's was nearby, WalMart was the other choice; decided to go to McD's because theirs are cleaner.

Walked down a 'gauntlet' of men sitting at several tables; they didn't say anything but as I approached, I could see they were peeking at me from under their damnable bushy eyebrows...

Got in, did my business and...a lady walks in. She heads to the stall next to me, commenting to herself about how it's raining. Once she was inside, I came out (yes, I'm bashful LOL) and she said, "Damn! There's no tissues in here!"

I paused. I thought, "OMG! Whatever I did, I'd have to speak! OMG OMG..." (This was to be my first 'public speaking' experience)

I could hear her fumbling with the toilet paper roll...I wondered if she was doing a "little job" or a "big" one...? Either way, she'd need paper. I decided to speak.

"I have some tissue here" I said...and realized it wasn't en femme.  ???

I heard, "What!?" from the stall.  :-X

Think fast, think fast....I remembered the voice coach telling me to "visualize the sound you want (G sharp, in my case), once you have it in your mind, your voice will follow." I quickly adjusted my voice-sector, and..."I have some here...would you like some?" "Stupid!", I thought...of course she does!

But from her stall came a friendly, "Oh! Sure, please!"

I gave her some, being sure to discretely show my engagement ring (ruby, tyvm  ;) ) and she thanked me.

Awesome. Voice matters!

Cool. Yes, voice definitely matters in those sistuations. Even though my voice is apparently passable I avoid talking to any women I don't know in the ladies lest the echo chamber reverb makes me sound like Barry White!

Awww congrats :D It's a nice feeling, huh? Honestly though, most women don't care if you're a tgirl. I talk to women all the time in my normal voice (although extremely gay) & it doesn't seem to bother them. Or if it does, I'll laugh in their face at how little I care lol

It does, and I love having a passable voice.

But OTOH, I know several women whose voices don't pass and they don't seem to have problems in restrooms either.

Either way, awesome.

I was in a stall at a restaurant taking care of business once. These particular stalls were like doors and they didn't hang open any if the stall was unused so you couldn't tell if anyone was in a stall or not. So a mother and her daughter came in and rattled my door handle and that startled me and I told them that I was in there, using my guy voice - whoops!

I stayed in there for a long, long time to make sure that they had left before I stuck my head out.

The moral of my story is to always be ready to use your femme voice.
