Title: Summer in Sydney - time for a swim!
Post by: Ms Grace on December 04, 2014, 04:38:55 AM
Getting quite warm down here in Sydney, and so humid, woah! And Summer has only just started!

I love the water but my dysphoria has meant I feel very uncomfortable in male swimming costumes (I can even remember feeling that way when I was young) so it's generally meant avoiding beaches and swimming centres. Anyway a girlfriend has a pool and invited me over for a swim. Since I have a new one piece cossie (swimsuit) it was the perfect opportunity to see if I could tuck sufficiently well enough to make the overall package work. And it did! I should have had my friend take a pic, but I think I can go to beaches or public pools now and feel fairly confident I am getting away with it. Woo!

Kind of boggles my mind though. A swimsuit is a very specific article of clothing so I feel very fortunate that I look alright wearing one. Looking forward to when I don't have to tuck though!

Just go outside now and you can swim anywhere in Sydney.

If it is as bad as yesterday you might need to be rescued.

Hey, that's awesome!

You know, I felt soooooo uncomfortable wearing a swimsuit all my life and wondered why. That was a headdesk moment earlier this year when I finally understood ;).

I'm a bit jealous of your summer I must say. Cold and eternal gray skies for me here.

I have a two piece halter top one that I've been trying on. I found that I can tuck really well and it looks pretty good. Can't wait for summer here!

I'll shiver, smile, and think of you.  Have a wonderful time with your new found freedom.

I don't see what's the big deal about the swimwear issue. No one would say anything if someone were to wear shorts in a pull. They don't have to be swimming trunks but like small, little booty shorts. wear the upper section of a 2-piece & you look beach ready. That's what I would do anyways. If my boobs weren't an A cup.. :(

Staying with shorts and rashie shirt for now. Keeps the ultra violet at bay.

Just got hailed on getting onto a train...

And we actually do have kangaroos in our (admittedly pretty big) backyard.

Back on topic, I've always hated male swimwear but am still a big decision and a long time away from considering female cossies instead. I'm constantly trying to time applications of toenail polish between public pool visits!

The idea of a bathing suit on me right now is terrifying enough to fuel a full-blown Twilight Zone reboot....

On the other hand.... Congratulations, Grace. :)

Umm...  Grace is in OZ.  The Chicago temperature would be -1 degrees (Celsius) for her.  It probably never gets above 40 (Celsius) in Sydney...

It's been down to around 15F without wind chill factor(NW Washington State) for about the last week, but I'm ok with cold & hot.  Warmed back up now, I'm still waiting for my usual single digit temps that come later, thats when an extended walk is out of the question.  LOVE my woodstove  :)  Dani
