Group,
Hello everyone! My name is Brittany. I'm a 26yr old transsexual female from CT. I'm fresh to the group as of today and I wanted to give myself a proper introduction and let you all know what I'm about. I'm hoping to make many new friends and enlighten myself with a bit of knowledge on trans* issues in general.
About me: I've been on hrt since March of 2013, just about three months shy of two years. I came out to the world in December of 2012 and have been fulltime since August 2013. Over this past year, I have legally changed my name and gender on all of my state and federal documentation.
I was working for a busy marina/boat dealership up until June 2013, which is when I was laid off. A month prior to my layoff, I disclosed to my HR department that I was transsexual and that I would be transitioning. Their excuse for laying me off was "lack of available work". Everyone knew it was a cover to let me go for being transsexual, but unnfortunately I had no evidence to hold that against them. At the time of the lay off, I began my job search. I went on for a few months with no luck until my sister offered me a fulltime job providing daycare for my niece. As of the end of this week, I will no longer be looking after her due to a possible job at a manufacturing plant. I am also going to school for welding and pipe fitting in the spring, so caring for my niece would not be ideal for me.
As for family, I could not be any more fortunate. They are 110% supportive and have helped me through the darkest of times. As for friends, I lost my close ones, but I should have seen it coming anyways due to the fact that they are bigoted rednecks. Many of my distant friends however, have become closer to me. I have also made plenty of new friends as well during my journey.
Hobbies you ask? I'm a bit of a gear head and I have been riding atvs/dirt bikes since the age of six. I'm quite good at it too :). I'm a wiz at small engine repair, but I generally can successfully repair anything including power equipment, cars, trucks, motorbikes, appliances, furnature ect. Did I mention I love 4x4s, guns, mudding, blowing things up, camping, bonfires, cooking, hiking, animals and obnoxious metal?
As for my taste in music, I like metal that is fast paced, loud and gory. I like some electronic genres as well such as dubstep, chillstep, industrial and trance.
I'm a huge animal lover. My heart will melt for any doggy, but I love all animals in general.
I'm not sure what else I should write, but thanks for having me <3
