Title: The holidays, also known as the money drain

Not presents. I have those covered. But expenses.
My car needed a new battery. $80 plus $15 core deposit. Thankfully I got a refund for returning the old one to costco.
Kids school wants money for various things. Can't really say no. On top of that, generous (rich?) parents take up collections for gifts to various school staff. Can't really say no to that either. That is on top of school fees which are really expensive (thousands) because in NJ it is like that and public schools do not offer full day Pre K, only half day. It was either going to be school or a babysitter and I'd rather have them learn something.
Then I check my house propane tank yesterday. 10%. Yikes! I need to get a fill. Thankfully propane is $1.89/gallon at my preferred supplier and I own my tank.
Then there are of course, transition expenses - primarily $75/week for electrolysis and therapy (not covered by insurance). I am probably going to dial back therapy to twice a month now. It is getting expensive.
Then my wife wants to give a year end donation to the church... well yeah I do too but how much?
At the end of this, empty wallet syndrome takes hold.
The good news is that after next paycheck I get a decent increase in my take home pay because I paid off some debt I had. The bad news is that it's after next paycheck.
Anyway I should be thankful I do have money to spend, but it sucks being broke...

Ugh, I feel you. I've been setting aside $200/week to pay for post-top surgery time off in case I don't feel up to working when my vacation time runs out. And I don't really want to touch what I've already set aside, but holidays are expensive with gifts, traveling, etc. Oh well, it's only a few more weeks :P

Appliances breaking left and right here... UGH!
First the dishwasher (needs a new pump) next the washing machine, just as *I* was doing laundry...
I'm in the process of repairing it now, hopefully I won't have to buy parts for that one.

Well, some good news. I got the washing machine fixed. Had to clean the drain pump out. Eww the smell! But the good news is that it is good as new now. Now just the dishwasher.
