Title: Upper Midwest/Canada?
Post by: Jak on December 15, 2014, 12:05:23 PM
Well, I had a wonderful talk with my partner this morning and, while I've been doing my research for a while, I now feel better about moving to the consultation step. While I would travel to the likes of South Florida or San Francisco if need be, I know that there are folks within driving distance who are (somewhat) experienced in the top surgery arena. In particular, Dr. King in Wisconsin and Dr. Tholen in Minneapolis. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with either. I would also consider Canada as I have citizenship (not that it matters) and the exchange rate is getting better and better, but it looks like the woman in Montreal (blanking on her name) requires more in the way of supportive material than King or Tholen require.

Anyway, if anyone has any feedback/insight I'd be grateful. Oh, and I would be looking at DI or Inverted T. Given my size, peri- or keyhole are out of the question.

Thanks!

Dr. Tholen did my surgery 4 years ago, and it really was a great experience.  The staff was friendly and sensitive to names and pronouns, the care I received was thorough and professional, and Dr. Tholen is a very skilled surgeon.  It was a pretty hefty chunk of change, but I consider it the best money I have ever spent on myself.  Since I was in the D/DD range, I ended up needing a revision about a year later to take care of some persistent 'dog ears', but overall I am very happy with my chest.  Congratulations on taking the next step and I wish you well...

I know several people whose top surgery was done by Dr. Buckley in Minneapolis. They're all very happy with the results, and they say Dr. Buckley was very attentive to their individual needs/wishes.

Thanks to you both! Much appreciated!

Update: I just scheduled my consultation with Dr. Tholen for late January!
