Title: AAAAH! A video game called me "sir!"

The other day I found a bunch of NES carts for sale at the flea market. So hell yes, I quickly had a nerdgasm. There were some good titles for sale, but I ultimately went with Wizards & Warriors for five bucks. I really liked this game as a kid. And I still do!
As I was intermittently texting with an old friend, I... beat the game. I beat the damn game! Never had before. Anyway, so the game is all about knights and medieval stuff -- you know, the old sexist motif of the damsel in distress -- and the ending sequence calls me "sir!" Grrr! And then you enter your initials for the high score. Why would a game like this have a score? It was 1987, and they thought it was important. Anyway, you enter your initials, and your listed as Sir blah blah blah.
Thanks, Wizards & Warriors! Maybe I should'a bought Skate or Die, instead!
By the way, don't take any of this seriously. I'm just having fun.

Lol, I'll stick with modern MMO's. Where I spend more time designing my perfect female character than I do actually playing!

Lol, if any company ever made "Character Creator - the game" it would sell like hotcakes. I'd definitely buy a copy. Hell, I do that with Skyrim right now, haha.
I dunno, I guess it's the old, old view of the Knights Errant, being called Sir whatever. We still have that in England, lol. Sir Lancelot, Sir Gawain... Sir Ranulph Feinnes etc. People who get knighthoods are called Sir. The female equivalent is a Damehood.

o.O
That's quite insane.
Go get Skyrim for like $30 (or less). I'll give you a list of free mods that can make your character look amazing at a fraction of the price. :P

Of course there's always Second Life :) I've spent nearly 3 years with my av there, lol. Not to mention my 35,000 item wardrobe :D

I still have my NES and SNES cartridges.
Remember Super Ghouls and Ghosts? In it there was a sorcerer, one of the occasional enemies that pops up. He casts a spell you must avoid or it transforms you momentarily into different things that have no defensive abilities. If you aren't wearing armor, you become a baby. If you wear regular or green armor, you become a seal or a bee. But if you wear the best armor, the gold, you momentarily get transformed into a maiden.
Needless to say, I hunted down the gold armor and went searching for the sorcerer, wasting many precious gaming minutes for the 5 seconds or so of getting to play as a girl.

It's the simple things. :)

I remember back in the commodore 64 days there were a lot of games out there called XXX construction kit, where XXX is some kind of genre. I had a few of them and I think they were the reason why I was interested in game development for so long. I still am, but I don't like the requirements of 60+ hours per week and the risk of being fired because you finished your game.

Oh wow! I remember the commodore 64, lol. I even had a Vic20 before that, 20k of mem, lmao. There used to be a magazine you could get with games written out in Basic. The idea was you spent 3 days typing it all in to get this fantastic bomber game or something :D...reality was, 3 days typing, some weird noises and a game that froze after 3 seconds:D
Or you were REALLY lucky and the game worked! And you sat there for a while looking at this crappy game and wondering if the rest of life was going to be this disappointing.

I believe it was called "Compute!" I had it and always liked to program out of it, but it was difficult. Many of the games were assembly launched via basic. So it was all just a bunch of numbers and the program would load the numbers into memory and then execute it. The catch is that by being 7 years old with that many numbers its difficult to figure out where you went wrong when it didn't work.

I found a game a while back with a super in-depth character creator. The game is called Perfect World, it's an MMORPG.
You can modify your character to your hearts content.
