Title: Timeline for drain removal/reveal?
Post by: newyorker75 on December 19, 2014, 07:25:51 AM
Hi guys,

So I scheduled my surgery with Garramone for January 7th.

They have me going back in for the reveal and drain removal 5 days later, on January 12th.

But everything I've read always said drains get removed after 7 days at least. Do any of you have experience getting them removed earlier? Should I be worried about that?

I booked my flight home for the next day, which is 6 days post-op. Any thoughts/advice/opinions/suggestions?

Also, they gave a huge list of medications to avoid for the next three weeks. I work out a lot and take a lot of fish oil and protein supplements. Didn't see them on the list. Anyone know if there are any issues with these? Or if there are other things I should avoid? Should I avoid alcohol on New Year's Eve, or is a few drinks a week before ok?

Thanks.
Mel

5 days is normal. He knows what he's doing, you will be told to contact him if there's anything unusual going on (like more fluid than usual). I had pretty much no fluid by that time.
