Title: When did you decide to switch to injections?
Post by: ImagineKate on December 22, 2014, 12:21:21 PM
I'm considering this. It's not that I'm not getting results with pills, it's just a hassle to take them every day, 3 times a day. I don't mind needles. I get electrolysis every week after all.

If you started on pills, how long did it take before you asked your endo to switch you to injections?

about 2 years and 4 months of being on pills lol so back in July of this year is when I made the switch.

My doc actually offered me injections at first but for whatever reason I chose the pills instead, like I don't even remember why I didn't pick injections honestly..I should of been on it from the beginning, oh well but then again I had a lot of great feminizing effects in those 2 years on pills.

Went from pills to an implant in about three months. Didn't do injections this time - can't remember how long I was on pills before starting injections during my first transition, less than a year I think.

The Endo had me start on patches and not the pills, but the switch to the injections was made as soon as the first of blood work after being on the patches was done. So I was on the patches from 9/20 to the morning of 10/31 and by the afternoon on 10/31 the first injection was in. I was offered injections when I first started too. He asked which I had preference for and I didn't have a preference and so he went with the patches. If I could do that over with I would have went straight to the IM self injections. I knew I wanted to make the switch within the first couple of weeks of the patches too, but didn't ask tell the blood work was in.

16 months before I asked to switch. I had to come to terms with needles (big needle too). When I felt I was not making progress with pills I overcame the needle phobia. Odd how something so frightening can be overcome with incentive :)

I started HRT end of August and gave myself my first injection this past Saturday. The patches were giving me a rash (the dots don't but I was having trouble getting them filled). I asked about going on IM estradiol at my last appt. on 12-10 and she agreed once I mentioned the rash.
