Hi, I'm Kaimialana, and I'm an androgyne. I've been going through a really tough time right now, all alone in a city for the summer, no friends nearby. My parents still don't know about me, and I don't know if I will ever tell them. I got to the point where I almost called them to come out tonight, but stopped right before I did. That really scares me, that level of impulsiveness. I don't know if they would ever accept me. I do have some good friends who know about me; my closest friend is like my sibling and sie is also an androgyne. I worry so much about being seen as a pervert, a fetishist, something that people are disgusted with. As consequence I don't show all of myself to people who don't know what I am. I hate doing it, I hate hiding. I just want to be who I am, male and female, all squished together.
Just yesterday I got in a fight with my best friend because I am afraid of doctors and psychiatrists because of past experiences but sie is worried about me and says I should go see one. I feel like I would just be labled as a perversion if I did go to someone for help.

Naw, 'perversion' is a term for those who do not understand really. All things considered we are pretty darn natural, even if on the rare and unknown side. But, unknown doth not make us immoral, freaks or any other colorful words some people may like to use. So, again all or at least most things considered speaking to a qualified, I.e. one who understands what gender actually is, therapist type person may be useful to you. But regardless, please feel free to join in on the conversations here and feel at home (=
Greetings and welcome to you Kaimialana (=

Hi Kaimialana,
There's nothing wrong with you. You sound kind of young, so I'm going to tell you something that you haven't had time to learn - THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU!!!!! :) :)
You will be learning that you have nothing to be ashamed of. How you decide to handle your parents will be up to you, but don't let yourself be messed up by guilt or doubt.
Welcome to Susan's!! We have a section for androgynes and we've been discussing some of the issues I'm sure are troubling you.
Peace,
Rebis

Hi Kaimialana,
I am so sorry about the way that you feel, everything that is happening to you right now is most likely for a reason- yet THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU.
You must understand that every human being on this earth is 'different' in some way, shape or form, and they're all different for a reason too.
(wouldn't it be boring if everyone looked, sounded and acted exactly the same? We'd all be clones of one another, and eventually it would become very difficult to cope also!)
So, rest assured, although it may feel as though your whole world is crumbling down, it's not. It's just settling into place, you need some time.
Hugs,
Scott

Welcome to the forums Kaimialana, nice to add another androgyne to our numbers :)
Don't ever let a medical professional tell you that you're not allowed to be what you are (unless you're an axe-murderer or something). If you're worried, try to find one that has experience with gender issues.

Andra meant - try to find [a therapist] that has experience with gender issues and NOT try to find [an axe murderer] that has experience with gender issues.
I hope :P

Thanks for the welcome. *blush*
I know there is nothing wrong with me (although comments made by not so nice people sometimes make me think there is), but I just don't want to confront someone like a doctor or therapist who thinks that. I'm already afraid of them as it is!
