Susan's Place Transgender Resources

Hello all. I'm in my mid 40s & figured out about 5 years ago that I wished I was born female. I hate being a member of the male race & having T poisoning me. I don't think I have a female mind, as I don't view myself as very feminine. I don't think of myself as masculine either, even though I still do more masculine type of things for stuff like work. I'm not & haven't been like most guys either. Most typical guy stuff like professional sports have never interested me. I do try to behave in a more feminine manner like being more patient & helping others. I haven't done much positive, since figuring out I'm not happy being male, other than doing some research & spending a lot of time thinking about who I wanna be & what work I would have done, if I could afford it.

I'm just over 6 feet tall, with the usual big feet & hands, and of course a narrow pelvis. I'm average weight. I have long hair & luckily a full head of hair. I haven't done any dressing, shaving, etc as I can afford to lose my job. I had a lot unjustly taken away from me last year, unrelated to anything trans. I'm attracted to females. I hope to learn a lot here.

I think one of the first hurdles I had to jump through in accepting my own gender issues was to realize that being feminine and being female are two completely different things.  There are women who love skirts; there are women that won't go near the things.  There are women that love sewing, and women that love power tools.  If being assertive and determined,wearing pants when it's easier, or disliking power tools mean you aren't a woman-then I'm not one, nor is my sister, nor are most of my cis female friends.  Enjoying hobbies and activities that our culture deems "masculine" doesn't mean anything about wether or not you are trans.  You answer your own question in your introductory message-you figured out that you wish you had been born female.  That's all there is to it right there.  If you feel this way, you are trans.  What you do about this going forward is of course absolutely up to you.

Hello and welcome to Susan's, Wants2Bfem. I'm perfectly happy where I am now. I prefer the feminine and feel more comfortable being such. More  over the past couple of years I'm seen as being female.

Women come in all sorts of forms. If you do come to the conclusion you are woman, remember that, it will keep you strong. There is also the potential you may be non-binary which is totally fine too, just be you and be happy :)

Sounds to me like no matter the conclusion(s) in your gender identity exploration, you are a genuinely kind and considerate person. Exploring yourself and being able to understand yourself is about one of the most positive things a person can do. Researching the hurdles that may be on a potential path in your life journey is a very wise thing.

Hi wants2bfem! Welcome to Susan's! Certainly there are always lots of questions people ask themselves and a lot of comparing to this and that and whatnot. I can't tell you if you are trans, only you can work that out for yourself but it certainly sounds like you may have some gender identity issues which would be good to work through with a qualified counselor or therapist. I wouldn't sweat the "am I this/that enough?" details at this point there is much more diversity amongst trans folk than you may realise. :)
