Title: My First Dress

:) Today I bought my first dress. Up until now I have been wearing my wife's clothes, They are ok for size but a little small. Today is a major milestone for this girl. I walked into a store, browsed through dresses, skirts and tops. I picked out a lovely black lace dress with a wine lining. It is beautiful. Nobody in the shop even looked sideways at me browsing through the ladies. It was a lovely experience.
I'm working away today so I'm dressed fully en femme in my hotel room and wearing "MY" dress. I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl but I feel a million dollars. For the first time I feel an independent woman.
I had to share with you all.
Thank you for listening.
Ciara.

No....I did not use the ladies fitting rooms. I know that would have been a problem. I guessed my size and it was bang on. It fits like a dream!!
The salespeople took no notice. I don't know whether they guessed it was for me or if I was buying for my wife. They smiled and thanked me. They didn't care really I suppose as they were making a sale.

This is a wonderful milestone. Thanks for sharing it with the community!
I remember when I bought my first outfit in public. I remember I was so nervous! I am 19 months on meds waiting on my okay to get my SRS
I had to wait after getting my meds because of financial constraints.
Just remember, the more often you do it, the easier it becomes! We're here for you!

Only once or twice have we been able to sneak into the women's change room when it was not monitored but that was a rather risky thing to do.

Thank you Fally.
I can't believe how easy it was and how comfortable it felt to browse through the ladies clothes among other ladies. There was nothing to fear. I suppose when you think about, why should I fear clothes shopping among other ladies. We all have the same interest.
Yes.......what a milestone on my life journey!!
Thank you for your support. I hope your SRS comes through soon.

I have progressed far enough that if I ask where the restrooms or fitting rooms are, I am directed to the ladies facilities.
Ciara,
I am going to be moving soon to somewhere like Massachusetts, Transcare is covered by Medicaid there and might even include SRS!
VERY exciting times!

Yes.....for some reason there is never an issue when a couple are in the men's changing room. However it is entirely different for in the ladies changing room.
Either way, I really enjoyed today's experience. Next time I may try on privately in the men's changing room.
Thank you for your support.

Fally,
That is really exciting for you. I can't imagine how it must feel to be so close to SRS. For me.....that is a dream albeit a very pleasant dream!!
I hope it all works out in Massachusetts.

Ciara,
It is so close and yet so far away.
Facebook and other social media have allowed me to to "blossom" so-to-speak.
My boyfriend and my 7 year old son (yes, he calls me Mommy) are wonderful support.
My boyfriend became my fiancee on January 3, 2015
I am the happiest girl ever! :)

Way cool Ciara! The first time I bought my own and wore it, I was sooooo happy. It was a terrible sweater dress from Target, but I still have it and I wear it from time to time.

My first dress that I bought non-covertly was from Maurices. I love it! I love skirts and dresses for summer time, no confining chafing or anything like that with a dress!

Hi Fally,
I bought my dress in Dunnes Stores which is a big chain of stores here in Ireland. It's still like a dream....I will love this dress always (or until it goes out of fashion!)

Being in your own clothing feels so much better doesn't it?!?!
Here's to many more dresses for you. :icon_drunk:
PS What Size are you? I have a few items I would lurve to get rid of if they fit you?

It is your first, it will always be your first, even if it goes out of style, and gets shoved in the closet, you'll never get rid of it because of it's overwhelming sentimental value.
