Title: Starting HRT Tomorrow
Post by: Deborah on January 21, 2015, 06:21:20 PM
I just got my blood test back and with it a brand new prescription to pick up in the morning.   Yaaay.

Can anybody say how quickly testosterone  levels drop with spironolactone?  My level was a bit higher than I was expecting it to be.

Congrats on progress in your transition.

Everyone is there own how they handle the Rx.

I do bet you will visit the restroom more then you used to.

Enjoy the path.

Hugs.

It takes girls years to grow into women, it won't matter if your levels are high at the beginning. The changes, they're a coming!  ;D

Congratulations!

I started spiro and E simultaneously. In 3 weeks I panicked because everything flipped. I did not expect that. Erections were difficult and orgasm took a longer time. Also an orgasm was very intense and involved a lot of muscles. My T was low starting and everyone reacts differently to the meds and there are a lot of ways to get to the finish line. Counter hormone therapy is usually started slow and gradually increased. Switching hormones is a big change to your body.

Congrats!

My former dr told me it could take up to 3 months for the full effect. But everyone is different, so YMMV.

My orgasms were always this way (whole body experience) but they've been amplified with estrogen is as best as I can put it.

Congrats. As far as levels dropping mine took longer to really bottom out only because Spiro wasn't started at the same time the estrogen was. Most likely they are starting you on low doses and raising them overtime so it will take a little while. Remember it's a marathon and not sprint.

I started on androcur and estrofem and judging by how my libido went from 8-10 out of 10 to absolute zero in three days I would say it dropped quick and once I did get a blood test my t was below the test range and stayed that way until I switched to gel 3 months ago and within a month I was back at male values and had my libido back too. We recently increased the gel and androcur dosage and my libido is gone again though I don't have a blood test of the new values yet.
