Title: Just came out on facebook
Post by: Corvid1692 on January 22, 2015, 12:11:21 PM
I just announced over facebook that I'm a trans womann and will start transitioning. so far everyone has been really supportive. I was going to wait until id been on hormones for a bit to come out, in case they didn't work out, but after my endo appointment turned out to be a week later than I thought, I got impatient and decided I didn't have to have hrt before I started transitioning.

Here's my coming put post:

So I've been dealing with a lot of mental health problems lately, particularly depression and anxiety. I say lately, but its really been all my life. I have been getting treatment, though of course nothing is perfect, and even with medication, I have the same problems, but with less severity and frequency. I mention this because there is a third issue I've dealt with that I've only recently been recognizing and dealing with. I am also going to be / treatment for it. I have a diagnosis for gender dysphoria. What this means is that I have significant distress caused by the feeling that I'm the wrong sex. This has been a persistent and distressful feeling I've dealt with for most of my life, and has very likely contributed to my depression.

What exactly does this mean for me? I intend to start transitioning to a female identity, including medical transition. This has a huge stigma associated with it, and I'm about to run face first into it. I'm going to lose my male and cis privilege (to the degree that i ever really had them; that's a complicated topic) and start dealing with all the bull->-bleeped-<- women deal with every day, plus the bull->-bleeped-<- unique to living as a transgender individual. I have already told many of you about this, and all of your responses have been wonderful. I was going to wait until i had been on hormone therapy for a few weeks before making a public announcement, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep it a secret. If the hormones doesn't work for me, everything I've told you is still true, it just means i have more data to further an evolving understanding of myself. I hope that all of you will be tolerant, understanding, and open to learning.

I will be provisionally using the name Gwendolyn Deirdre Renee Sutton, and prefer she/her for pronouns.

coming out on Facebook is actually a great idea.   My problem is I tried to do it myself on facebook and no one took me seriously.  Anybody want to give m a hand and strike up an online chat with me and that way they see it as it truly is finally hoppenng.   I am serious if anyone would want to help me do so.

I know what you mean about not waiting. So, I've just changed my status on Facebook to reflect my identity. A lot of people who know me already "know" but I feel I just needed to do it.

Wasn't quite up to putting a me photo up, but went with our big fat cat in the meantime. In some ways we're not that different.

Mine read as follows...
my friends are lefty art types so sorry if the language offends anyone.
and yes i literally am this insufferable all the time hahaha!!

"Do you like things that look funny and go explicitly against The Bible? OK this will make you laugh, I finally decided to take the plunge and apply for gender reassignment!
As you can see I have a face like if you somehow combined Mary Poppins and Dick Van Dyck into a single horrifying person.. and I dont mind. If anyone has secretly needed to do this their whole life but been too pussy, lets be ->-bleeped-<- buddies! It sure beats the ->-bleeped-<- out of being a depressed male impersonator I can tell you that for real. Trust me its like cutting loose a giant weight of ->-bleeped-<-s given, you just soar upwards!
Ive applied for the chemicals that begin the change, and if all goes well itll take 2 or 3 years of looking slowly less and less like drag Frankenstein and more and more just like some tall goofy female person. After some thought Ive hit on a name I like; Alexandra. So all of you who know me as Alexander are going to have to get used to it! Or just call me Alex like normal.
Ive made this blog to track my progress, ups and downs, and throw down some science and anything else that seems relevant, to keep myself motivated, so if youre teetering on the edge but worry youre too tall (im 6.2) too manly (check out my chin lol!) or just feeling trapped or lonely (i know that one!) or anything like that well, follow along and also email me and maybe I can help.
