Hai der.
Today, after waiting since October last year, I finally acquired hormones from my Endocrinologist. Basically I'm a woman, in a male body. (I don't like saying Male-To-Female, cause' I was never even male in the first place) :P I live in Uruguay, and I hope I wrote this correctly. They handed me valerato de estradiol (estradiol valerate) and acetato de progesterona (progestrone acetate). I am to take estradiol and progesterone acetate until I meet my endocrinologist again on May the 10th. I forgot to ask her why she didn't give me an androgen blocker or anti-androgen such as spironolactone, perhaps its because I live in Uruguay???? Nevertheless I am nervous because I read online that if I take estrogen without a blocker it converts to testosterone. No-no. Tomorrow, I'm going to call my endocrinologist with this doubt, I hope she remembers I am 'MTF'. Is this normal, did anyone ever get this? I'll post the content of the medicine in an hour or two, and see if all is right.
I thank you!
Mod edit: No dosages please

Hey Shirley
Welcome to Susan's :) Great to have you here - looking forward to seeing you around the forum.
I was started on estrogen only for the first six weeks, my endo said it would help reduce my T which it did. After six weeks he put me on Spiro.

Welcome Shirley... Glad you are with us :)
Certainly worth the question on your Endocrinologist. Not sure on the answer to your question but looking at Grace's response I guess it's not uncommon.. Maybe something to do with your own bodily Endo system ?
Look forward to seeing you around :)

Thanks girls, I guess I will contact her tomorrow as soon as possible. Another thing, how do you change your profile, so that I can have a profile picture?
I went to account/profile settings and it just says (no avatar) in a button, where do I upload :3
Kind Regards,
Shirley Dover

Ohhhh, and one more thing ~ Ms Grace explained that she was only on extradiol for 6 weeks, but supposedly I should be on it for 3 MONTHS, ???
Has anyone else had this problem :-\ :-\

Quote from: Cindy on February 11, 2015, 04:09:13 PMOmg I did! I am still new here I apologise if it came off as lazy. OMG I need to report that the medicine I got is an anti-androgen (cyproterone acetate), so no worries, this convo is all cleared up I guess.

Testosterone can convert to estradiol, via the action of the enzyme aromatase.
There is no way the reverse can happen. Estradiol can never convert to testosterone.

It won't happen, as others have said.
I've been on E only, no blocker, from day 1 and had great results; the worst that happens with no blocker is that testosterone isn't suppressed enough. But estrogen will NEVER convert to testosterone.

Shirley my first 6 weeks were also on Estrogen only and it lowered my testosterone by half. It's extremely common to be started on estrogen only first so I wouldn't worry about it to much.
