My first electro appointment is wednesday, and she needs 4 days of growth, I feel yucky right now. I have actually started wearing a hijab so I don't have to see my growth when I look in the mirror. How did other people here get through it. It is so annoying that you cannot get rid of hair unless you grow it out

I was thinking of doing it while still in stealth mode. Pre hrt. My body hair is blonde already so shaving works fine there and I understand hormones fade some of that away. It's my super hairy arms, hands and fingers that have me feeling grody. Anyway, I think I can handle all of that, beard included, better when presenting as male. It's a nice slap in the face to my male form anyway, taking his beard. Well, good luck with your appointment! It is going to be amazing after how your stubble is making you feel.

Hi
Don't shave Thursday or Friday then hide over the weekend. Electrolysis then 1st thing Monday. ..
However I don't understand four days growth. I did two and she was fine with that. Is this your first session?
Hugs

its my first session, but she said I could shave areas she wont be working on, but seeing facial hair is still really awful for me. On a dysphoria scale of 1-10 the facial hair is a 10 and is is every bit as awful as having the wrong genitalia arrangement (in some ways worse, becase the public doesn't see your genitalia

Four days seems excessive to me too, I only give mine 36 hours and she has plenty to work with. Could just be a first session thing.

Even 1 day is pretty bad, but it seems like the easier I make it for her, the faster it will go. I just want this dreadful thing to be gone.

HRT is very likely to reduce body hair, a lot even, especially if your t-levels get fairly low (either from estrogen directly or the addition of t-blockers).
But facial hair, while it slows down in growth a bit, never really thins for almost anyone. There are a tiny tiny few who get noticeable changes in facial hair. For the rest of us, it's laser or electro.
So plan for this in your transition.

i know the frustrating feeling you have. I do laser, but after my laser session, i'm unable to shave for about 5 days, because the hair shafts become limp and don't respond to a razor. its incredibly frustrating to have to see dark beard hair growing in!! Just hang in there!! it will get better!

Have'nt started Laser and Electro yet (financial reasons :'( ) .... But certainly need to get the worst over before going greater than 50% of FT.
Body hair vanishes, lower leg hair almost vanished, arm hair gets lighter and a little downy, lower arms, back of hands and fingers tend to thin a little and go fairer, only slightly downy in my case... Again depends on age, genetics and amount of hair.
Hugs....

I'm not looking forward to the growing it out. After spending 37 years hating to shave my face, and probably spending 60% of the time with multi-day scruff, I think I've shaved more in the last three months than in the previous three years. If I miss a day, I feel really gross when I look in the mirror because the little hints of femininity that I see are overwhelmed. I'm still in male mode (except sometimes at home) and probably will be at least until the electrolysis is done. So there at least won't be any outward weirdness from growing it out. Probably any real weirdness will be from the HRT...
I was told to give it 3-4 days, and on the first session it seems prudent to err on the side of a little bit of extra growth. It'd be a bummer to get to the session and not have enough for them to get a good hold. My beard grows fairly slowly, I'm not sure 2 days would be enough.

This is something I wish I had planned better for, I got antsy and transitioned before I got electro, and now I'm not really sure when I'll have time to do it, not to mention having the hair drives me crazy. My hair is light so my only issue is my upper lip. I do a mixture of tweezing and shaving to keep it down. I may see of I can get laser for my upper lip to take out the darker hairs. Honest shaving isn't too bad its just the shadow that's there after no matter what that bugs me.

Upper lip is tricky with laser as hair roots are deep and well integrated in muscle tissue, which means laser often just burns the hair, and doesn't get to the root. The power of laser needs to be raised slowly through first 8-10 sessions before you are left with so few hairs, that it wont destroy and burn your skin at higher settings, and leave you with permanent scars. Don't expect any serious reduction of dark hairs on the upper lip until 6-7 sessions in. Upper lip is usually cleared only at highest settings, and any serious laser practicioner or dermatologist would not do that before your hair is so few that's it safe. Are you willing to go through 10 laser sessions, thats about a year or little more, just to clear the dark hairs from your upper lip?
