I'm eight and a half months post-op with a 1x/day dilation schedule. I'm deliciously moist inside (yay!) and I continue to wear pads pretty much all the time.  There's always evidence of discharge on the pad, so I haven't wanted to go without, so that discharge doesn't end up on my undergarments.

Will there come a time when I don't need them, or should will it be pads underneath from here on out?

I'll be interested to hear an answer on this as well. 6 months for me.
It seems I notice discharge more when I've been driving, so I'm guessing that might be normal.

I think it depends on the woman... I know of several who say that the moisture provided by rearranged mucosal urethral tissue is sufficient that they do always need a pantiliner. With that said, it's also apparently a matter of personal preference; some cis women also like the security of a pantiliner, some figure a tiny bit of moisture is what panties are for and just wash and change them frequently.

I think I gave up pads after the first month or so, but I've certainly heard of many women needing them longer. Dilation also makes a difference - there was definitely less of a mess once I was down to once a day, and at once a week I'm adequately moist but only leaky for about 10 minutes after on Fridays. :)

When on your own time. 

I used liners off and on to year and half.

Once I zapped that last pesky area of granulation it stopped.

Make sure you follow up with a gyn or PCP.

Healing takes way over a rear.

Just wanted to stop by and say that many cis women need panty liners most of the time, some discharge is very normal. I mean, there's a reason why there is this whole panty liners industry :D.

Adrian, I think mentioned a good point that many cis women have a small leakage most of the time.  That is why the mini pads were developed, someone saw a need for them since some women don't want what leakage in their panties or it is too much and they want a little pad to absorb it.

I am 5 months post op and I am still wearing pantyliners everyday specially after dilation. I only douche once a week or less. I think the discharge is more of lube residue / moist inside.

And yeah, I interviewed my cis girl friends and they told me they always wear pantyliners coz they also have some discharge.

I guess what I was wondering Is obvious, but just wanted to read others comments.
Of course women wear pads, cannot believe the choices at the drug store.
I think I sorta already knew the answer, that when my dilations decrease to 1x a week, from the current 1x a day I'll expect to see a lot ess lube leakage.

How time flies, only a few months ago, felt like a prisoner stuck in bed dilating 4x a day. What the hell will I do with all the free time when its once a week?

I dilate 2/3 times a weekish if I do in the morning defo a pad if at night I don't usually need one the next day.

It was a long time ago now, but at some point (9 months?) I just said the heck with it.  There wasn't much on the pad and I wondered why I was wasting my time and money on pads.  Most women have at least some discharge, so expecting your undies to be perfectly clean is not realistic. 

Special side note: Although I don't use them anymore I still carry a couple in my purse in case someone else needs one.  And they really appreciate that you were there to save them.

All women produce mucus from the vagina, it varies throughout their cycle. Trans women also produce mucus but also we use lubricant to help dilation which also leaks out.

I'm 5 months post op now and I still use pads, ultra thin pads are perfect for me. I mean I don't have to use them but I do anyways to avoid any leakage or smell down there from the leakage. The pads Seem to absorb the smells too from discharge.

I wear mostly yoga pants and leggings now and the ultra thin pads dont  make down there look like I have a bulge lol.

i am almost 14 months post-op.. i wore the thick maxi-pads for about 3 months after SRS... then i switched to the thin panty lines until about the six month mark... Then i discovered the pads designed for g-strings.. as i love to wear thongs/g-strings and was getting withdraw symptoms.. i wear a g-string or thong virtually daily.. so 6 months in normal panties was long..   so switched to those... i don't wear pads everyday anymore... i don't remember when i stopped wearing pads daily.

I only really wear pads on the days i need to dilate.. as I now have a boyfriend.. he is my dilator these days  >:-)

It's been a long time for me now. I remember the heavy dilating days somewhat and all of the lube that was needed for the dilators. I don't believe that I wore pads a lot though. I sort of changed up my personal hygiene over time. I prefer to dilate at night, like watching TV or something. After I am done I shower at night just before bed time, so I can give the vag a good scrubbing. This way in the morning I just eat breakfast, get dressed and off to work I go. But one thing is, I do not wear pads at all and haven't needed them for a long time. Once in a great while I think there might be a problem with some leakage and wear a pad but I can usually solve that with douching.
