Hi,
I have an appointment with a therapist Saturday to get a letter recommending me for hrt. I'm curios, how long do I have to see this therapist to get this letter? I don't know if it matters, but I'm in Rhode Island.
thank you for any help!
Emma

A lot of that will really depend on the therapist. It could be anywhere between one visit and "however long it takes". Mine was about three months, or several visits.

Grace is right, depends on the therapist.
However the WPATH Standards of care provide no waiting period or minimum therapy requirement. There are VERY clear that it is up to you when to start hormones. From (version 7 (http://admin.associationsonline.com/uploaded_files/140/files/Standards%20of%20Care,%20V7%20Full%20Book.pdf)), last paragraph on page 25:
Any doctor that follows the WPATH guidelines will follow your wishes regarding the timing of HRT.
