Title: Being Surrogate Mother to my FTM Boyfriend
Post by: Iluvhim on March 03, 2015, 10:17:18 PM
I love my boyfriend with all of my heart and before he starts transitioning I asked him to freeze one of his eggs so I could carry one of them along with one of mine at the same time.  I feel sometimes I may be asking too much? Mostly due to the fact he does not like needles... But I feel like this is a way to pass on his genes for our future generations?

I want to know all of your thoughts when it comes to this, your experiences if you went through the same thing.. etc... etc...

How does he feel about it? Has he been open with you one way or the other? I think there are some people who would be comfortable doing it, but some others probably wouldn't (like me).

He said that it was a smart idea because he wants kids.  But then he gets quiet about it right after we talk about it.

Ask him more how he feels about it, because just from your post it sounds like it was mostly your idea but I don't know. He could be quiet for a number of reasons. Maybe he's upset that he can't father children and you'll have to get a sperm donor, or he's scared in general about the process, or doesn't actually want kids or would prefer adoption. Could be anything so you two need to have more communication.

Just a heads up because you seem young, but it can actually be a difficult and costly process to freeze eggs. People having their eggs harvested need to take fertility drugs and extra hormones beforehand.  The procedures cost money and there's a yearly fee to keep the frozen eggs in storage. It would depend on your country, but I've read figures around $15,000 for the whole process.
