Title: Getting started on T
Post by: kaidenhendricks89 on March 09, 2015, 10:55:36 AM
Hey guys,

I've recently come out as ftm and it's been so amazing!  My wife says I seem happier than ever, and I am.  I am wanting to start on T as soon as possible. I'm looking to find out what is the quickest and best way to get started on T.
I live in Alberta Canada if any of you guys on here are from Alberta or Canada I'd really appreciate your comments.

Hi Kaiden! Welcome! Congrats on coming out :)
I'm in Manitoba Canada and I've recently come out to my wife too....it's been a very positive experience so far. In Manitoba, we have a clinic with a doctor who deals exclusively with the TRANS population. This is very awesome, but it also means that's there is a wait list...and for someone like myself (and maybe you too) you might have to "wait" to see a Trans friendly doctor. If you get a chance to meet people in your area who are also FTM, you may learn that there are other options. For example, maybe there's a trans friendly nurse practitioner willing to get you started on your initial blood work. Also, you may be able to start HRT under the premise of informed consent. I'm not sure about Alberta, but in Manitoba, you need to see a specific psychiatrist to be recommended for any GRS.

It's an exciting time and I look forward to reading about your progress :)
