This is a question for experienced boob farmers. If there are absolutely no symptoms, aches, pains or itching does that mean that growth is not happening. Thank you.

Not necessarily. Breasts can be sneaky, building tissue in different places without calling attention to themselves. But when they get busy just behind the nipples, you'll know it. :)

Now for the science: mine have seemed to get bigger when they didn't hurt, and hurt like hell whilst staying the same.  ;D

Also you don't mention how long you have been on E or if you are on high/low dosage (remember numbers are off limits) or if you E blood levels are high/low.

I noticed a huge difference when my dosage was increased, had to get padded bra's to protect them.

I have been in medication since the  2 month  and let me tell you, my nipples got tremendous sensitive and HUGE!  but then again I had a massive severe case of gynecomastia

I'm about 6 months in no tenderness unless my kids jump on me first thing in the morning and I'm not able to wear anything right or it's obvious they're there. I started on low dose E and just within the last week started spiro.
I started out 68 kg 6'2" tall and since November im now 76.5 kg and stable at that weight. It wasn't until about a month ago I tried on a pair of jeans because we're starting cooler weather that I noticed my waist size has changed from 27" to 32".
I'm just going along my merry way and changes are happening ,not fussed how long it takes,as I've read all over here it happens , sometimes fast sometimes slow. I'm not much of a "checker" but do notice when the obvious happens.
And no itchiness or pains.

7 months on hormones. 4 months on the highest dosage my endo will prescribe. No ache, no nipple change, no growth.

At the risk of sounding like an old hag and being very boring:

GG's develop over a period of about 7 years, most of the changes happen during the first 3-4 years.

We should not expect our changes to be any faster, after all it's the same hormones, these are not magic pills.

Some lucky folks do not experience soreness but it seems like trans women experience soreness more frequently than cis women. That is not scientific, just what I have noticed from talking about boobs a lot, with a lot of people. Some people develop quite nicely without the added pain. 

When does it start? Who knows? It does seem to signify that they are going through a growth spurt. I do not know if they are growing more when they hurt or when they don't. Pain tends to come with growth in one way or another, though. If you go without pain for a while then it returns, it tends to mean there will be more growth soon.

When does the pain end? Again, who knows? For some it never stops. For most, it seems to stop once development has pretty much finished. I am not there yet.

What is the pain like? Well, it hurts extra bad when you press them in, or bump into things. For most, it doesn't seem to hurt at all if you just leave them alone but we growing gals tend to keep pushing them in, just to make sure they are still there. It is a perk of transition. See what I just did there? :)

I do not remember when the pain started for me exactly, I mean, I didn't realize it was THE pain until it had been there for a while, but it seems like it had started by the 3-6 month mark, and it was consistent for around a year. Lately it has been a bit more on and off.

I take a shot of E every two weeks and the pain seems less when I am running low, only to return shortly after the next shot.

Lately, the time without pain seems to be getting longer and the time of pain is less and less. I hear that may mean that their growth is slowing, or that they are putting their effort into filling in rather than developing glands and growing out.

Fine with me. I am overflowing my C cups and measuring in at over a D at this point. They can slow down. Otherwise, they will become a hassle if they keep growing at this rate for much longer.

The only major pain I've had so far was during the second HRT month when both my breast buds developed.  They were really sensitive (in a painful way) for weeks, even grazing them would make me wince.  It was nice in a way because I could also see they were growing rapidly.

Then they stopped suddenly, along with the rapid growth, and now there's just a little tenderness.  On the other hand, as soon as the pain went away, they become really sensitive in a good way. :)

So then, growth without sensation? Yes or no? The question was really aimed at those at 2 years plus with "hands on" experience.

I had no pain or growth for my first 2 years on HRT. However, after the dose was increased the breast buds developed and there was a slow period of growth over about a year with some soreness. When the soreness stopped so did the growth. So for me pain = growth.
