practice makes perfect.  Watching Youtube videos is the best.  I would suggest watching for drag makeup - simply because they show tips to hide features we don't want to show.  If you can learn those shading and highlighting tips, you can do anything!

I have a makeup artist...just so happens I live with her  ;) my fiancee does a remarkable job considering she never wears makeup herself.

I think it depends on how much you practice. Also inthink it helps if you have help from someone that knos what there doing. I have only been doing it for a few months. But I fell really comfortable with my skills. But I had lessons from a MUA. There are alot of good videos on youtube. Ashley

Have you tried the sparkly kind as opposed to the smooth solid color kind? It seems to be more forgiving.

I don't wear any foundation or powder as my skin doesn't call for it, but I just have a small issue with my eyes.... I am having someone help me with my eye liner and eye shadow this weekend so it doesn't end up looking like I got a black eye afterwards xD

I have been watching you tube videos like crazy. Last night I had my first go at smoky eyes. It a little messy - but I could see clearly that with a little practice it's going to work. I am going to a dressing agency for a makeover. I really am hoping to pick up lots of information - like what shade foundation I need. I am planning to buy all my own kit so as not to annoy my wife by using hers :-)

It really is just practice... when I started doing makeup my face looked pretty bad. I actually laugh at those pictures now! And now I go for a more minimalist look, just eyeliner and maybe some eyeshadow, a little lipstick... once you get lots of practice in and find your groove, you'll be just fine. It just takes a little time!
