In the last two days at work, three people have actually attempted to use the correct pronouns for me :) And my mom is starting to know more stuff about trans identity and me being ftm. She even knows what a binder is, now (and not to put it in the dryer).
Today I came home with a headache and whined to my mom about it.
And then she's like, "maybe you should take off your boobsmasher."
BOOBSMASHER. I love it, hahaha.
(She pronounced it boob-smasher, but boobs-masher seems equally appropriate and hilarious).

Your mom sounds like she's putting in a good effort to learn! That's fantastic! I hope it keeps getting better for you. :D
I'm going to try to explain to my mother what a binder is when my new one comes in, in a week or so. I'm assuming she'll want to know what it is, since she tends to hover around the boxes I open since the curiosity is overwhelming for her. xD

I propose that we refer to binders exclusively as boobsmashers from now on.

I wish my family was like this, thats just freaking awesome!
although, i have similar experiences but not so much as being trans related as it is for my tourettes. but We all get a good laugh out of the funny things that come out of my mouth, so i guess i can only win in one area but thats alright!

It's such a great word!
I love all the great weird and random things that people say. Orangaline, my mom's ex-bf had Tourettes, they used to be hilarious together. Glad you have people to laugh with about it!
