An Open Letter to Planet Fitness
Planet Fitness, thank you for taking a "Judgement Free" stand for transgender rights. You're getting hit from all sides now, but please don't back down.
Some of your critics are really afraid. That makes this a "teachable moment". Will you use it?
Others attacking you have political agendas. They seek support for the discriminatory "bathroom bills" being introduced in a few states, and hope to capitalize on fear. Will you stand up to them?
And some of your members are going to leave because of this controversy. Will you tighten your corporate belt, and calm nervous nervous investors as these members go elsewhere?
Time Magazine recently noted that we are at a tipping point for transgender rights. At such tipping points of equality, there can be a backlash, sometimes an ugly one. Will you stay the course? I hope so.
And for what's it worth, I'm heading out to join the nearest Planet Fitness club. You make me feel safe.

Love this! It's funny, I had canceled my membership there since surgery will have me down for a few months and I was nervous about coming out to the staff there and asking about locker room usage/member file updates. Looks like all that nervousness was for nothing! If my new apartment complex doesn't have a decent gym in it, I'll be getting another membership with PF.
