There's not a lot of information on the average underbust in MTF individuals, so I thought that it would be interesting to do a poll based on that.
Your band size should correspond to the measurement of the rib cage directly under your breast tissue, and should not be measured using the overbust method, nor by adding 4-5 inches (which is an outdated method).
You may pick two sizes if you are inbetween sizes and/or fluctuate sizes based on brand (For example, I'm normally a 30 band but require 28 in Freya and (hypothetically, as it doesn't exist) 28 in Aerie).

29" rib cage, the bra band I wear the most is a 32 but sometimes I do feel like it's still a bit loose and could be tighter. I need to try a 30 band size and see if those fit better.

I'm actually 37" underbust measurement and so is my wife, but for some reason when we were professionally fitted she came out as 36 and I was 38. (And in cheap bras I'm 40-42 and so is she, which I have no explanation for.)

Depends on the bra, but generally between a 34 & 36. 36's are somewhat loose, and 34's are somewhat tight, although since I've dropped some weight, I may want to recheck.

Mine is 40", but I need to point my weight and height:
Band: 40"
Height: 6 feet
Weight. 270lbs, which is REALLY overweighted
My BMI is 36.
I shoudl weight 160lbs
BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
Overweight = 25–29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

In following that:
Underbust (Ribcage): 29" snug, 28" tight
Height: 180cm (5'11")
BMI: 21
Lady_Oracle, you could try Aerie, although even the 30 band I tried was too loose for proper fit. Freya bands in 28" seem great.
